i felt the same about khalan to be honest. and what bothered me about goodkind was, not only that the good heroine never got raped, but neiother did ANY of the other good girls. only the bad women, the dark witches, the bullies at the school, and so on (except kahlan's sister, who was raped mostly to get her out of the way as queen) the women were all raped as punishment, it seemed, for being not good, not virginal, not perfect. and if it wasn't rape, it was sleeping with monsters with barbed cocks. it's as though sex is violent and horrible as punishment to bad girls, and if you're a good girl, on the right side, or just not a bully, then you will be ok
which is a totally horrible message to have in your books. that only bad girls get raped, as though they somehow deserve it.
also the way that all the women seemed to curl up and die after they were raped, that they couldn't go on, they had to just quit, as though rape destroys women. i find that abhorant as well
