I think the 'project' wouldn't have attracted quite so much attention if the original post had possessed a different tone, and if the OP hadn't talked about doing it at other cons. Many feminist bloggers are also F/SF fans and convention attendees, and the idea of this spreading through the con circuit rightly creeped them out. And when people mentioned their concerns about possible problems with the whole thing, it seemed like a lot of them were being dismissed.
