There are things I still like about Kay. His characters for one. And the sense of nuance, non manicheism and bittersweet tragedies. But in terms of his writing style, I read it and I roll my eyes. I've reread Songs for Arbonne lately and Tigana last year and sometimes I wanted to laugh at how heavy handed some of the phrases I used to take as beautifully lyrical seem to me now. Odd to think my tastes changed that much. Lions my favourite boook of Kay, I think it's the one that endures the better.
I read the Deathgate cycle before I read Lancedragon so Zifnab wasn't so jarring (although still a WTF kind of character @_@). I had a huge crush on Haplo ^^
