I wouldn't remove the expression. I may make an edit to apologise for offense (as a footnote) once it was drawn to my attention, but removing something once there and has been seen (presumably) and commented on...well it sort of seems like dishonesty to me since language choice is self-expression. And as nice as it would be, not every on is enlightened or nice or whatever it is you want them to be.

Basically, written expression, especially in the LJ context to me is much like speaking. You can't take spoken word back once you've said it. You can't ask people to not hear things. You can clarify and discuss further sure but you can't really take it back.

(Ok, I have no idea if that made any sense).
