I went to watch Sherlock Holmes yesterday. It was ridiculously FUN. One of the most enjoyable every minutes of it entertaining pure fluffy entertainment movie I've seen in ages ^_^ Anyway, with the typical delay between the release in France and in the rest of the world, I, err, wouldn't mind getting links for old squee, criticism, recs, fanfics & other fanworks posts of yours (or of others). *makes puppy eyes*

Isn't it fun? It's been a long time since I've gone looking for fic but Sherlock Holmes has me reading away. There's the community [livejournal.com profile] holmeswatson09; I just finished a long story by [livejournal.com profile] paperclipbitch that was excellent; and Kanata has regular recs and reviews that I'm only just starting to dip into.

Enjoy!

Heh, I just saw it today! It was crazy and ridiculous and awesome. =D

I thought the same, on paper a Sherlock Holmes film done as a Hollywood blockbuster by Guy Ritchie didn't sound that appealing an idea, but somehow it did turn out to be a very entertaining movie. I thought Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law were particularly good in the main roles.

I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel now.

Like the person above said, I didn't think the movie sounded like it was going to be any good but I was pleasantly surprised. I loved loved loved all the Holmes/Watson banter. I cannot wait to own this on DVD.

That fic by [livejournal.com profile] paperclipbitch was excellent! I'll keep an eye on Kanata's. Thank you so much ♥

I've been posting regular recs for all my reading, and you can find them all tagged, here. Let me know which ones you like--I know some things about your HP sensibilities, will have to learn which things you like and dislike in this fandom.

I guess there's nothing for it. I gotta stow my Sherlock-snobbery and watch the thing.

YES YES ISNT IT!

I wouldn't mind watching it again right again.
Last time I felt that about a movie was Pirate of the Caribbean XD

Yeah, it sounded pretty wacky but fun, and I didn't have very high expectation, but it definitely did what it aimed to do perfectly!

Me too!

[identity profile] laurus-nobilis.livejournal.com 2010-02-11 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, yes, that's exactly the right comparison! XD

Yeah, I'm very much not a Sherlock snob, so I can't compare how it when you have a strong attachment to canon (the version of Sherlock Holmes I'm the most familiar with is the Ghibli version, so); but I've seen several people who are fan of the books like the movie as well. It's definitely more... pulp, but wonderfully so. As I said above, I don't remember enjoying an entertainment movie so much since Pirate of the Carribbean.

Je l'ai aussi adoré !
Un film fait pour les fangirls, d'ailleurs on était pas les seules à glousser dans la salle !
Par contre je ne me suis pas encore plongée dans le fandom.

I quite enjoyed the new Sherlock Holmes too. It was a little different than some of the other Holmes I've seen, but I liked it.

That it was :D but in a good way. Probably necessary to give the franchise its signature, too.

Si tu as des romans que tu penses suceptibles de me plaire, bien sur que je suis prenneuse ^^

Par contre tu pourrais plutot venir à 15h? Je viens tout juste de me réveiller... >_>;;

[identity profile] berylia.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 08:38 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] berylia.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] berylia.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Ben ni l'un ni l'autre des deux PC de la maison ne voit quoi que ce soit sur le disque...

Well on my taste:
i found "until you cry, now you must try my greed" too unlikely for my taste;
but appreciated muchly the plottiness of the "Adventure of You"
I didn't try out "Softly and Suddenly" because you said it was more based on canon.
