Can I get a rec for a shoujo (or similar) anime series, please? I've got a bunch of stuff to watch, but they're all in the action / mystery / serious style, and I feel the need of something a little bit different to freshen it up.
Kimi ni Todoke, maybe? The plot is standard high school shoujo--girl who is shy (more specifically, girl who looks like Sadako and accidentally scares people) learns to make friends and falls in love--but it's really cute and charming and feel-good, and the importance of female friendships isn't neglected in favor of romance. I've been reading the manga in English and catching up on the anime, which just ended back in March; since the manga's unfinished the anime has a placeholder 'ending', possibly to allow for a second season, but overall it's a pretty good adaptation and I think it's been fully fansubbed.
