And another meme about flist in general

from [livejournal.com profile] mamadeb

If you read this journal on a regular/semi regular basis, leave me a comment and let me know.

Then post this in your lj and find out who reads you.

In fact I'm also curious about :

- why/how did you friend me ?
- is it the same reason why you're still reading ?
- what do you look forward to/like reading on my LJ ?
- what are you not interested / pass over ?
- is there any specific criticism you'd make of my LJ/ my interaction with you on LJ in general ?
- do you have any specific question for me and my LJ, something you've always wanted to know ?

but those are purely bonus questions if you want to answer them ^^

[identity profile] sakanagi.livejournal.com 2005-08-05 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
I read. ^^ I read pretty much every post by people on my friendslist.

- why/how did you friend me ?

..Can't really remember. Maybe it was something to do with the Tokyo Babylon/X fandom. Other than that, I just liked the way you wrote in general.

- is it the same reason why you're still reading ?

Not really, since you don't seem to be so active in CLAMP fandom now. But I do still like your writing style.

- what do you look forward to/like reading on my LJ ?

Book related posts, fandom posts, etc. Though there have been some interesting topics that were unrelated to those things anyway.

- what are you not interested / pass over ?

Nothing really. Even stuff about fandoms I know nothing of is fine by me, because after all if they sound good enough maybe I'll take a look at them sometime.

- is there any specific criticism you'd make of my LJ/ my interaction with you on LJ in general ?

No, not that I can think of.

- do you have any specific question for me and my LJ, something you've always wanted to know ?

Hmmm. Well, you once wrote Seishirou a fanfiction based on his tarot card, and I think you said at some point that you were going to write Subaru one based on his. Are you still planning to write that fanfic eventually?

Heh, okay, I'll try to answer comments more easily every time ^^ (sometimes I'm afraid to but i think i moght look to spazztic)

As for the HP stuff, I'll LJ cut. To be frank, I think what i like about it is the fandom more than the books themselves (they're decent, but they're hardly the best thing out there) There's lots of intelligent and thoughtful people writing essays and good, dark fics, and I'm sucker for those. Reccing newsletters like [livejournal.com profile] daily_snitch are also a big plus.

Blue, err... no ! Green ! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgh !

Yes :p

no, not really. I see lots of people commenting in general on my flist who haven't posted there.

I think it's the third comment you've made on my journal so I tended to assume you didn't really read unless you were bored. I always got the impression nothing much interest you on my journal, but I might be wrong ! I'm no stranger to the pleasure of lurking :)

You just like evil people, don't you ? :)

Mmm, do you see yourself using your LJ for a long time to come?
Yes probably, though not necessarly in the same way I'm using it right now. I often think that i might get weary of posting eventually, but LJ as a reading device is too nifty for me to ever stop it entirely.

heh, thank you ^^

I really don't know about that fic. On the one hand i don't feel very motivated by the TB fandom right now, but i've still got a couple of writing projects I don't want to give up on... so I might get back to it later. Or I might not. Sorry for being unable to bemore precise.

I read! I read all of my friend list!

Well, for my short friend list that is about 3 minutes of reading a day.. at most.

- why/how did you friend me ?
I made my own LJ as a birthday gift to you. You was the first person on my list. Of course, now it has evolved into its present incarnation as my 'secret diary'.

- is it the same reason why you're still reading ?
I joined for the hot babe. I had absolutely no idea what to use the thing for. Now I'm staying for ... err, the hot babe...

- what do you look forward to/like reading on my LJ ?
Accounts of your life. Views, opinions, small-talk.

- what are you not interested / pass over ?
I am afraid I am nowhere nearly knowledgable enough about any fandom to get much from those posts. A few slash links are always welcome, of course.

- is there any specific criticism you'd make of my LJ/ my interaction with you on LJ in general ?
I miss you in chat! When will you play with widdle Mayumi again?

- do you have any specific question for me and my LJ, something you've always wanted to know ?
Are you the Holy Grail? Part of the riddle that will banish darkness from my life?

[identity profile] su-chan.livejournal.com 2005-08-05 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
I read!

- why/how did you friend me ?
You were in the X/TB fandom and seemed a very intelligent and interesting person :D
- is it the same reason why you're still reading ?
Nope XD Now I'm reading because I like you and what you write, so basically for the second reason above.
- what do you look forward to/like reading on my LJ ?
whatever, I do not expect anything in special this way all my flist can surprise me in diferent ways XD
- what are you not interested / pass over ?
Harry Potter XDDD
- is there any specific criticism you'd make of my LJ/ my interaction with you on LJ in general ?
None!
- do you have any specific question for me and my LJ, something you've always wanted to know ?
'me and my LJ' sounds like a pairing, is LJ a good boyfriend? XDDD
and no, I don't like to directly ask things to people this way, I let people tell things when they wish to or when the moment comes ;D

[identity profile] sakuraragi.livejournal.com 2005-08-05 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Look too spazztic? Nah. Don't think that! XD

No no no. It's your journal. You can write whatever you want. You shouldn't feel the need to add the LJ cuts or anything like that to change the format. I read it no matter what you write. ^.^ I like reading diversity, especially about things I don't really know about. :D

O_o Both then? :D;;

OK ! *bounces around*

Heh, well there's a number of person saying they're uninterested in it, besides, LJ-cutting is a good habit in general and never pretends from reading it.

My real favourite colours are purple, green and red, actually.

Hi! Lisa here from H_E. I noticed on the July 16 Meet-Ups post in H_E that you live in Paris, France? Well, I'll be flying into Paris tomorrow but I'll actually be in Orleans during my stay. I'm sure we'll be visiting Paris Sunday August 14 & Monday August 15 (hopefully, I'm counting on not working on the holiday!) & thought maybe you'd like to meet up? I'll be traveling w/ 12 other co-workers but don't really plan on hanging out w/ them the whole time. :)

My email is crzychx@livejournal.com if you want to email me!

- why/how did you friend me ?
Originally, because you were into X.

- is it the same reason why you're still reading ?
No--you usually have interesting comments on books, and the list of Harry Potter links a while back was enjoyed, since I like to read that sort of thing but don't know where to start in the fandom.

- what do you look forward to/like reading on my LJ ?
What was mentioned above. ^^

- what are you not interested / pass over ?
I usually read all of my LJ flist, excepting some of the more hyperactive communities (ie, fm_alchemist).

- is there any specific criticism you'd make of my LJ/ my interaction with you on LJ in general ?
Not really.

- do you have any specific question for me and my LJ, something you've always wanted to know ?
What does your journal name 'etrangere' mean? I have a hunch, but I'm not 100% sure.

[identity profile] sakuraragi.livejournal.com 2005-08-05 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)

True. True. LJ cuts do make entries flow smoothly. XD They are respectable in their own rights.

Wow. So many of my friends love purple. :D

I love your journal as it is. Reading your entries is like reading a long letter. It always makes me smile and makes me feel close of you. It's sweet.

I joined for the hot babe. I had absolutely no idea what to use the thing for. Now I'm staying for ... err, the hot babe...
XDD only you would make me want to change my LJ into a place for porn. It's like "hot babe ! Must be hot bab-esque ! Quick ! A webcam ! Slutty clothes ! smutty prose !"

I miss you in chat! When will you play with widdle Mayumi again?
Oh oh ! I want to play I want to ! We need to work something out that deals with my working schedule is all. Errr week end probably. Could we game during the week end ?

Are you the Holy Grail? Part of the riddle that will banish darkness from my life?
XDD I might be a bit too Jewish for that. Though Holy Grail lends itself to plenty of lovely female symbolism... Mmmmmmm
*hugs you tightly*

Etrangere means Stranger in french

I took it from the book serie A song of ice and fire by George RR Martin

The main society of that fantasy serie has got seven gods : the Father, the Mother, the Fighter, the Maiden, the Smith, the Crone and the Stranger. The Stranger is said to be the god of outcasts and is also associated to death.
My favourite character of those books, Sandor Clegane aka 'the Hound' has got a favourite horse that he calls Stranger (he's not a very reverant person)
I found it nifty to have a name that was both that of a god and of a horse, because I have a weird sense of humour like that, and because it allowed me to be "Best Supporting Character" :3
Kept the nickname since then because I liked it and i like the images linked to it.

[identity profile] quitty.livejournal.com 2005-08-06 09:42 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's pretty obvious that I read your entries, na? I usually skim through everyone's entries in my Fpage, but when something catches my eye, something that I can relate to or makes me want to say something about it, then I read it again, more thoroughly this time and then sometimes I leave a comment. As for why I Friended you, I've seen your name in the same places I go (CLAMP-related LJ communities, CLAMPesque, FF.net, etc.) and then I saw your LJ and that you sometimes write these essays that aren't just about fandoms...All in all, I just find you interesting, you've got some things to say and I can learn some things from you. Plus, I like that my Flist is very intercontinental. ~_^

[identity profile] rahael.livejournal.com 2005-08-06 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
1) I can't remember whether you were on LJ before I was - but I probably friended you when you came on to LJ. I think I had already met you in real life by that point and knew you well through AtPO. In this way, you were "friended" in the truest meaning of the word.

2) I guess I'm not one of the people who always says "I wish I could call my friendslist a reading list". I never know what that means. Some of my best friends are books! And their characters! In fact there are loads of my real life friends who are people who I am enormously fond of but true communication happens in bits and pieces - by chance. Conversely, books are direct forms of communication and become a part of me. So reading the writing of friends isn't something I judge or section out in terms of genre or writing. It simply is what it is.

I only pass over stuff when I don't have long internet access. So if my internet access is confined to my morning coffee before I run off to work and that is my sole internet time that day (which is true for this last month) I simply read very quickly and highlight stuff I want to read properly or respond to and come back.

The stuff I find very very difficult to read is dishonesty. But I find that difficult to face in real life too. People lying to themselves. And it's worse if they don't know if they are doing it. I find it so uncomfortable and would rather have as little to do with it as possible. I don't know why this is something I find difficult in friendships - I guess a couple of friendships with some people in university did for me.

As for the last two questions - I don't read LJs as a source of news or entertainment, but simply as letters across the ether, so what demands can you make? What right has anyone to demand that anyone produce anything except to communicate truly what they need to?

[identity profile] rahael.livejournal.com 2005-08-06 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
err obviously the stuff about dishonesty isn't about you but more about reading LJs in general!

[identity profile] sakuraragi.livejournal.com 2005-08-06 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
O_O I... I wasn't...

Oh look at that. I love that explanation! :D!

[identity profile] imadra-blue.livejournal.com 2005-08-06 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I think because you looked interesting, and might have posted some icons that cracke dme up over at H_E. :)

Aw, tis okay. A good chunk of my f-list barely tolerates my SW obsession. XD

And thank you so much, sweets. :D I'm kinda the same way about friending. *sighs and stares at too big f-list* But I can't cut anyone else! *whines*

[identity profile] etrangere.livejournal.com 2005-08-06 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, Rah ! *hugs* I honnestly thought you weren't reading me anymore.

Oh, i did come over to LJ because you kept telling me how nifty it was.

Some of my best friends are books! And their characters! In fact there are loads of my real life friends who are people who I am enormously fond of but true communication happens in bits and pieces - by chance. Conversely, books are direct forms of communication and become a part of me.
I can so relate with that. I feel like all I learned of people and wisdom I got it from books. I love seeing book as a mean to see from other people's point of view.

Dishonnesty is also one of the thing I can the least stand. I'm not sure how obvious it can be from LJ entries however.

I'm still very unsure about how I want to consider my LJ, what to write in it and how. I started from thinking it was my journal and I would write whatever I wanted, but by now I think I like it as a medium of interracting with people. I don't know. In two weeks I might change my mind again XD

Thank you so much for answering. You can't know how much happy it made me of seeing your name on my e-mail box.

[identity profile] rahael.livejournal.com 2005-08-07 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Aww! Is this the point where I admit that I thought much the same about you? (or at least, I had this idea of who on my lj friendslist had me on a filter, and I figured you were one of them!)

I don't always commment, because I once had this phase of trying to make comments on friends posts, especially those that seemed important and needing of commenting, and then one day it went badly badly wrong. I rambled on in the effort to make some kind of pertinent and yet supportive comment and unleashed perhaps the most upsetting and terrible reply I've ever had online. Really ever since then, I've hesistated making anything except the blandest comments, except on subjects I feel are sufficiently unemotive and which are generally issues based and where I feel I have something to contribute.

Re dishonesty - I guess in the sense of how something even in just one post can be obviously non-consistent with itself, or perhaps over a longer span of time and getting a sense of familiarity with someone.
