I think I prefer Alec actually! He's so wonderfully broken and woobie-like yet so vicious and sarcastic at the same time ♥

what did you think of it?

I like Alec as a character but he, metaphorically, he makes my shoulderblades itch, if you know what I mean. He is very believably and painfully broken... I think I tend to prefer (fictional) people who are broken in a happy, or at least composed, way myself. (Although I don't think I liked him that much better in Privilege of the Sword, where he is kind of closer to that.)

But I simply adore Richard, because he is such an unexpected character for his role, I find.

My usual lengthy ramblings are forthcoming, but in brief, Mercy surprised me by actually making me like Sidonie (is it me, or did Carey finally give her an actual personality in this one?) Didn't like the worldbuilding as much in this one, and the plot was a bit too much with the spiraling and the meta (and the sloooow for the first third of the book), but it was about what I'd expect. But I feel cheated out of tje Maislin/Imriel/Mavros/Lucius orgy with Sidonie and Amarante watching that the book clearly should have ended on.

Comment tu trouves l'oeuvre de Fred Vargas? Je pense que j'aime le plume de Vargas, mais je ne peux pas blairer Adamsberg! LOL.
