some impressions on GoT ep 2

I'm really starting to dislike the changes to Cat's character. She's got all the steel out of her, nor did she feel as intense and obsessed about Bran. Definite improvement during the attack and right after though.

I do like the change in Cersei. She's probably bullshitting somehow (I hope the eventual explanation for her black haired dead child will make good sense) but I love that she's able to bullshit that well to Cat.

The Lannisters continue being awesome. Daenarys slightly less so - though hot Lesbian-y scene, which is an improvement on the Lesbian-y scenes from the books so yay?.

Jon Snow looks like an utter twat to me (well not when he's interacting with Arya, but with Tyrions? meeeeeh.) I mean, I was never a huge fan of him, but at least I used to see him as a decent enough character.

Sandor is also being awesome. ♥ Arya is GREAT. Sadly, I'm really starting to think the actress for Sansa doesn't work at all. She's just not convincing enough and lacks presence on the screen.

Oh, and spoilery-from-the-books comment >I'm glad and amused to see I've already seen one watcher of the series who hasn't read the book who is speculating that Jon Snow is Lyanna Stark's son :D

Otherwise the storytelling still feel a bit too stumbling, but is getting somewhere. Also the music of the OP is really growing on me :D

Okay I haven't read Feast for Crows yet, but I bit anyway - is it canon that Jon = Lyanna's son?!
I'm super paranoid about missing points of canon now.....I totally missed Renly/Loras.

I definitely like the changes/added scenes for Cersei. She seems more subtle and competent and stuff. But definitely agreed on the changes to Cat's character being all of the annoying variety -- so many things that make her interesting have been blunted or deleted in some way.

Amazing insight from that non-reader! I wonder what the whole thing looks like if you don't know the books. I keep mumbling to myself about the differences, which is never right. Very hard to pack so much into so few scenes, and I can't tell if it works if you don't already know what's going on.

I couldn't watch the final scene where Lady was killed, so that means that Arya and the wolves and Ned were working for me.

Snow is definitely not what I imagined. I wonder if he'll get better in later scenes, but so far "twat" suits: babyfaced and clueless.

Also the Lannister prince whose name slips my mind right now--seems too young, but that does work well when he veers from sadistic to spoiled brat as he did last night.

Sandor indeed! and I'm also liking Tyrion.

The sex scene with Dany and Drogo was better than I'd hoped, and Mormont is also good. They seem to have done a better job of casting the older actors than the younger ones (except Cat, I'm very much agreeing).

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Cersei's development - even in the books she was relatively more subtle and competent than later on.

It's interesting, a lot of the watchers actually see the series as very stereotypical and manicheist in terms of characters so far. People seemed pretty confused about who is who still last episode, but they seem to get a good grasp of it by now.

Joffrey is indeed very young as this point of the story.

Still not sure what I think of the shift in Dany's story. I think I ought to reread her chapters to properly judge. oh well. I ought to reread the series before the new book anyway.
