That's interesting. The only other time I've seen the word Kamui outside X is in the title of an anime series ('The Dagger of Kamui', whatever that's about...). Just poking around on the internet now, though, according to Wikipedia there is also an Ainu solar goddess called 'Chup-Kamui'. I wonder if those myths are things CLAMP had in mind.
