Hmm could discuss Jaime's monosexuality. I mean, he never slept with any other women than Cersei but he said nothing about men. Another cool Jaime ship is heroworship Jaime/Arthur Dayne. And then there's Jaime/Loras of course.

I remember a lot of people being into Dany/Jon at Ran's board but it's been ages since I hanged out in the books forum so maybe not so much anymore. Sandor/Sansa's always been popular though AFAIR.

I am a big fan of both Jaime/Arthur Dayne and Jaime/Loras, for reasons that are kind of mirror images of each other, I guess: Jaime/Arthur Dayne because of the heroworship, Jaime and the man whom he (presumably) want to be like, and Jaime/Loras because it's Jaime/the boy who reminds him of himself.

I hadn't thought to connect those two ships to the obvious mirror!ship Jaime/Cersei, but you're totally right! Jaime is all about the mirrors, which is kind of awesome and entirely ture. (Except Jaime/Brienne, which is the Jaime-grows-up ship...)

But Brienne's in many ways Jaime's opposite. Ugly but honourable. Which brings it back to mirrorness even if it's more grown up.

I think for me the difference is that with Cersei and Loras Jaime is aware of the mirror-ness and actually thinks in those terms (dunno about Arthur Dayne, as I don't remember what Jaime thinks about him beyond general fanboying), whereas with Brienne, while the mirrorness/oppositeness is there in the book, I think Jaime thinks of her as a separate, individual person, not in relation to himself as with Cersei and Loras.

(It's weird... I like Jaime/Brienne a lot in theory, in that they're *good* for each other... but I actually enjoy reading fanfic about it a lot less than Jaime/Cersei or Jaime/Arthur or the sadly rare Jaime/Loras, even when the Jaime/Brienne is really well written. I don't know if it's because I subconsciously realize the doomedness of this ship (from the "Jaime dies heroically!" syndrome, most likely) and thus avoid it, or if it's *too* healthy for me to enjoy. *is a sick bastard, obviously :P*)

Yeah, that's a good point. Brienne definitly is also her own person in Jaime's eyes. She's the one conducting the quest to restore his honour too (yay genderfuck!)

I think the issue is also that Jaime/Brienne is basically very hard to write well, and even the good writers in fandom don't write it a lot :D and the sick bastard syndrome too :)

Oooh, I'm so going to check those out. I'm not really in the fandom for BSG - I've found it hard to find the type of fics I actually want to read. (Yes, I'm a fussy cow, I admit it).

Oh, gods, AJ is even hotter in real life. The amount of (discreet) drooling I did was really not funny. Poor man, I think he was rather scared when I got up to ask a question. But he is *adorable* and very good natured, and clearly aware of the ongoing Gaeta/Baltar jokes.

Hee. Caprica/Tigh came out of left field, but I do love it!

I think I liked Adama/Roslin more when it was a bit more subtle. But I still love them as a pairing heh.

Although I'm a Baltar/Caprica 6 person through and through, I do like the idea and dynamics of Baltar/Gaeta. Though Gaeta pissed me off when he lied on the stand.

Most possible ships with Nanami end up making no canon sense. When she first appears, she thinks that being on Student Council is the coolest thing. By the end of the series, she's wearing a regular Otori schoolgirl uniform and wants nothing to do with the Student Council. She's basically squicked by the lot of them, even her brother, which would have been one of the few ships that has any strong canon support, the other being Nanami/Miki (Hmm, a Juri/Miki/Nanami love triangle--now that has promise!)

As for the rest of those ships, not only do they fit your categorization of them, they're also canon, especially the "You are one sick bastard!" one.

I don't know, Saionji/Nanami could make sense as well. I admit Juri/Nanami is harder to pull through.

Hmm, guy dates his best friend's little sister. Yeah, that could happen. It could also make for interesting tension between Saionji and Touga.

As for the love triangle, Juri and Nanami would be rivals for Miki, not lovers. I rather doubt they'd be into each other, although Nanami might have an extra dose of envy for Juri's style.

Since SKU has already been mentioned, how about the other fandom we share most strongly--Megatokyo (~~even if our mutual favorite character has been killed off--at least, last I checked~~).
