1. My sister is currently studying to become a Yoga teacher, so she started taking me up as a student in order to practice - which means I've started doing yoga, which is actually kind of neat.

2. I've started being an editor for comistore_news. I was feeling guilty about not giving back to fandom in any creative way lately ;)

3. I love joining a LJ community that seems like it's going to be cool and welcoming to all people and without any bullshit tolerated; and then the first time I join in a discussion (because I think that Utena, of all things, is a feminist show) it turns into aggressive grudgewank filled with flames I've ever seen. Still waiting to see if the mods are going to do anything before I leave but it doesn't look good so far. So much for that XD

4. For... I think mainly flo_nelja, I've actually ended up posting some of my quick-impressions-as-I-on-comics-I-read on rpg.net on this :thread . Sorry I suck so much at updating my lj thse days >_> (ideally I should crosspost or something).

Alana (at my encouragement) went and reported that thread where Gisei called her illness-inducing, we'll see where it goes. So far the mods haven't commented back to her but it was a Saturday evening. They're probably all out at mod parties.

I also sent an email yesterday. I'm just baffled at the lows the thread went overall; especially in a comm that's supposed to be, err, not about that sort of shit.

Admittedly I can't claim much moral high ground there after reading back realizing that I compared misgendering to being called a fantwit. Well done self. But any contribution besides a sincere apology to winterfox for fucking up her thread was pretty useless at that point so I didn't bother with feeble attempts at explaining myself.

I appreciate you stepping in for Alana, by the way. We'd both decided to just pull out of the discussion with Gisei by that point so the continued harassment was just...not cool.

I'd say burn it and forget it, but there were a few redeemable conversations in there. Far, far away from the grudge wank.

I've seen Gisei around a few other comms (sf_drama, of course, and bad_rpers_suck), she seems to maintain that same argument style. Keep responding forever and a day, even if there's nothing redeemable left to wring out of the thread, do the 'bb <3' thing or patronizingly tell them to go back and read what she said, and just be over the top confrontational. It makes it really frustrating when I agree with her in spirit, just wish she'd tone it down a bit.

Still Seiberwing, I've got the little cone-headed green and white robot icon. I mostly stick to Tangency/Other Media, I know a little about tabletop gaming but I don't actually play. The only guy around here I trust to run a decent game can't seem to pull the players together, and the guy who runs Rifts...um...

Well, there was this weird thread where I and possibly Banshee46 are reported for claiming that dead people are dead. I love Tangency but sometimes people make the oddest arguments. But mostly I am not that notable!

I'd love to try it sometime, I RP all the time on message boards or AIM, but it's easier to find one person online than five IRL.

Le dessin est sublime, le scénario est assez fascinant, mais je voudrais prévenir, je trouve qu'il me met un peu mal à l'aise, il y a des implications qui me semblent sexistes... ou au moins malsaines au niveau sexuel... (et pas juste pour faire de l'horreur, je veux dire ^^)

• Excalibur 3rd series (Charles/Xavier curtain fic)
• House of M????? (I'm a contrarian)
Ha ha, ça c'est moi qui te l'ai conseillé !
Et en fait, la série principale de House of M (la seule que j'ai lue) vient juste après cet arc de Excalibur dans la continuité. Donc je te conseillerais de les lire dans cet ordre, si tu dois les lire.

• New Mutants by Clarement/Sienkiewicz??
Je suis une grande, grande fangirl de la vieille série de New Mutants, et c'est vrai que commencer à cet arc permet à peu près de suivre sans suivre les X-men en parallèle, ce qui peut aider...
Par contre, ce qu'on t'a dit comme quoi il y a beaucoup de texte et de narration : c'est vrai. ^^ (Moi ça ne m'a jamais gênée, en fait... C'est comme si l'auteur racontait son histoire, et puis paf, de temps en temps, il te met une auto-fanfic (enfin, drabble) dans une bulle de narration en passant, pour expliquer les émotions profondes de son perso. ^^

Pour Elektra, ça ne veut pas dire que je trouve ça mauvais, hein, mais il faut savoir à quoi s'attendre.

Oui, Excalibur, typiquement, ça se passe juste après Morrison (et en même temps que l'arc de Whedon). Par contre... hum, Morrison est plus centré sur les idées brillantes et frappantes que sur la cohérence avec une caractérisation antérieure, donc il écrit plusieurs persos de façon qui, pour moi, sont du character derailment, et si tu lis ça en premier et Excalibur juste après, tu auras peut-être l'impression que c'est Excalibur qui est du character derailment/du retcon... argh, c'est compliqué. ^^;;

Oh, tiens, puisqu'on en est à Morrison, j'avais oublié de dire que par contre, j'ai beaucoup aimé Arkham Asylum (j'ai quand même lu un peu de DC...). ceci dit, si ça se trouve, là aussi, si on connaît bien les persos, il y a de quoi raler pour la caractérisation, c'est juste que ce n'est pas mon cas.

Ah, si tu n'aimes vraiment pas les grosses bulles de narration, je ne peux pas dire que les gens qui t'ont dit de le retirer t'ont menti, hein ? ^^

Amadeus et Hercule sont aussi dans l'arc de Mighty Avengers par Dan Slott.
(Qui n'est pas quelque chose d'ultime, mais que j'ai trouvé fun. C'est peut-être parce que le chef d'équipe est un super-geek, ceci dit)

En fait, quand il y a une histoire qui a clairement des trucs sexuels super-squicky, et qui est aussi clairement de l'horreur, c'est parfois difficile de voir à quel point on devrait mal le prendre... surtout quand les femmes ne sont pas les seules victimes mais qu'on sent une différence de traitement quand même... (et je parle en général pour plusieurs comics que j'ai lus, là)

Disons que même sans avoir une version de "IC" très stricte, il y a des caractérisations que j'aime et d'autres que je n'aime pas, et c'est dommage d'avoir une mauvaise vision d'un personnage parce qu'on a commencé par un arc qui n'est pas "bon" pour lui...

Oui, j'ai vu qu'Arkham Asylum était dans la liste, je ne crois pas que ce soit moi qui l'y aie mis, c'était juste un +1 ^^
