Just watched Kill Bill 2. Cool, but I thought not as cool as the first. Somehow i went out of the theater wanting more. Still there were quite a few excellent scenes. I love Elle, she's just such a perfect, ultimate bitca. Budd made me laugh too.
Oh, but Tarantino's not Whedon. Honey, you don't film that kind of image if you're not able to pull the metaphores behind it, and I'm sorry, the theme of Goddess of Death and (Re)birth wasn't quite strong enough ^^

I'm talking of one image that he directly borrowed from Buffy the Vampire Slayer S6. If you saw it, you might know what i'm refering to. Since in Buffy that kind of... image, is used in a narrative very heav with metaphores, symboles and mythological references, that only makes it more obvious that in Kill Bill, there's nothing of that sort, so the image is sort of gratuious.
Since apparently, according the movie, women are either excellent machines of death, either mothers, that's the only theme I could link the use of that image. (Symbolical image of death and rebirth so she can get ready to be a mother and all that)
Yes ?

I'm still very confused. When you say image, well, what exactly ARE you saying? You see, I don't watch Buffy.

The crawling out of the grave. Especially the span where her hands get out of the earth. That's exactly the same span as in Buffy's Season 6.

I'm pretty sure the line of dialogue "Once upon a time, in China..." wasn't a coincidence either Bog ^^
