Happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] darthtom42

I'm leaving tomorrow morning for Prague. I'll be back on the 19th.

Yesterday I went to watch Stepford's wives. I didn't see the first movie, nor did I ever read the book, but this was nice. Very funny comedy with some hillarious dialogues (some of those lines were priceless really) and some excellent winks. Full of incoherence, but it's not like I care for those ;)
Before the movie, there was a trailer for I, Robot with Will Smith. Oh, dear.... let us cry and wail in horror together for one minute over poor Azimov's betrayed work ... thank you.

Tonight, I've got a free introduction class to japanese ^_^
Well, that takes place on the school were last friday we had a free projection of Dragon Head (movie adapted from the manga), which was very nice. Apparently they broadcast every week a japanese or chinese movie (most often subtitled in english) which is very, very cool. I'll come back often, as you can imagine.

Must finish making baggages and all !

Prague! *bounces* Have fun. ^_^

Oi... scenarios like that for I, Robot scare the hell out of me. I don't think I could read or watch something like that. We would stand no chance if technology turned against us. :/

^____^ Have a wonderful time.

*shakes head* Over here, they've got advertisements for that stupid movie everywhere. Probably because they know it sucks. UGH.

The horror. ::hates hollywood::

It didn't? Maybe they just took some themes, and the plan wasn't to film a movie BY a book.

...today I have trouble forming coherent sentences. ;_;

Themes ? Themes !!

They only wanted to do something with robots, I dare say.

I, Robot, the book is a serie of novellas where an old woman, a scientist specialized in robots, tell of the different investigation she had to do in crime cases that involved robots, where in them no robots ever did the murder, because of the laws of robotics which were ingrained in ever one of them. The first one is impossibility of harming a human being, if i remember accurately the second is about always obeying an order from a human, and the third is impossibility to harm oneself (by order of priority). It's all very subtle, clever, fresh and totally devoid of action.

*breathes*

Now I'll stop ranting ^_^

Oh. Okay, now I'm a bit smarter. :D

Does that sound like something Hollywood or Will Smith to you? :P

Well some adaptations of Science Fiction books weren't so bad.

Total Recall had very little to do with Philip K. Dick but it wasn't a bad movie.

Minority Report likewise, but at least was within the usual Dick theme AND got me to giggle every time it had a Odin reference which is always good.

Starship Trooper was an ever worse rape of everything Heinlein had written, but was a very clever and grimly parodic movie of its own which is always good.

So, of course there's a thousand other bad movies which I already forgot about (thankfuly) but it's not like it's impossible.

If you say so. XD;; You know, I don't really watch movies. What I do is read summaries and critiques. It takes a lot for me to actually watch something, and thus I barely watch anything at all. XD

Well, Will Smith was great in "Six Degrees of Separation" so you have to give him that.

Oh - I'm sorry. I really shouldn't say such things if I don't know much about an actor. But when I think "Will Smith", I see The prince of Bel Air or MIB... Basically I see him as someone in roles that are either not serious or have a lot of action.
