Last week was mostly filled with : 1/ working 2/ Buy stuff for new appartment, bring stuff to new appartment, set up stuff in new appartment

Today my cousin Yael (who has hidden talents of crafter) were building stuff out of spare parts. I now have two chairs, one table, and one half of a desk at the appartment. Yay. Still no fridge, alas.

Anyway, anime convention : [livejournal.com profile] chaineddove, [livejournal.com profile] catwoman7018 and me went there from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. It was big. Well, I thought it was big because my only mean of compareason is the Monde du Jeu, a RPG convention, which is much smaller. Actually it was quite small. Taking place in a school (it's organized by the students) which mean the set up was pretty weird.
Having Americans there with me was funny, on the one hands they were much more experienced with anime convention than I, on the other, they weren't quite used to the French brand of anime geekness. They were especially surprised by the ratio of male to female (there were much more guys than girls), the lack of cosplay (apart from the people entering the contests, not much) and the karaoke (everyone singing when they knew the song ^^)
It was especially funny to see their reaction to the french versions of the music of old series (like cat's eyes, city hunter, les mondes engloutis or kimagure orange road) which ofcourse all the crowd could sing in chorus. It's hard to explain what it was in France (and other European countries), that we really grew up with all those anime, that we have an immediate nostalgic "Oh I remember that ! I loved it when I was 8 ! SQUEEE !" reaction to them even for the people who are not real anime fans.
Anyway, what did we do... I watched for the first time people doing DDR. Conclusion : this game must have been invented by girls. I don't see any other way, because while it's absolutly somptuously droolworthy to see guys doing it (well), girls mostly look ridiculous at it.
I watched the first two episodes of Peacemaker Kurogane, which was rather cute (I already have a favourite character, which unsurprisingly was also Maya's - damn her for having similar tastes to mine for cutely smiling manipulative guys, I can't feel speshial anymore ;_;) If I ever find the time, i'll try downloading it.
We also watched two random episodes of Hikaru No Go. I know the manga well (given that my father is a huge Go Geek and that he downloaded it all for himself and generously let me borrow it ^^) It felt weird seeing the go match animated. Just... weirdish.
I bought :

  • One FMA necklace, the one with the Homunculous symbol. God, help me if I'm falling for merchandizing, but I don't even regret it !

  • One DVD of the Last Unicorn, because it was laying there for 13€ and I adore that movie, and it's almost unheard of in France *squee*

  • A set of the X/1999 TV serie. Somewhat ironic considering how little I feel like involving myself in that fandom currently, but i'm still happy

  • A gift for Maya's birthday (Furuba art book)

  • A Vampire Hunter D amano poster. One very well known picture. I hope it'll look good in my flat ^^

That's all ! (as if it wasn't enough to ruin me)
And we watched the group cosplay. Some of them were very, very funny though not especially good from a costume design point of view. But freaking hillarious (especially the Saint Seya one based on seeing Kanon and Saga bantering, and the DBZ one which is... errr, innerrable)
Two of my friends, Isabelle et Manu, were part of a group cosplay of Kyou Kara Maoh (Isabelle as Gunther and Manu as Konrad), which was EXCELLENT ! Both the costume and the little scene (they replayed the passage with Anassina's love machine thing when Wolfram and Yuuri were stuck and they were trying to find them... yes ?) Sadly we had to leave right after them because Maya was to be home for a birthday thingie.

Trying to remember more, but that's about it
