2. List your personal canon for those characters. So the stuff that has nothing whatsoever to do with the books, but in your head is irrefutably what would have happened
I have three HP OTPs, Snape/Lupin, Sirius/Snape, and Sirius/Regulus so I'm going to mix and match the three. (they're not really OTP facts, mostly characters facts)
#1 Snape had a crush on Remus at school before he found out he was a werewolf. Or it was on Sirius. Either. Or both. (By "crush" I do mean almost unconscious obsessive attraction not warm, fuzzy feelings)
#2 Remus was definitly not friendly with Snape, even though he didn't actively bully him.
#3 Remus had a crush on Sirius, which was never reciprocated. Eventually he grew beyond it because it was a stupid thing to do and Sirius was always focussed on James.
#4 Regulus hated and was especially jealous of James for stealing away his brother. He thought Sirius and James had sex. He was at least partially right about the later.
#5 Sirius actually liked having arguments with Snape during OotP, because at least he wasn't having arguments with ghosts during that time.
#6 Snape is gay. Actually Snape is the only fictional character I think as purely homosexual rather than bisexual.
#7 Remus and Snape are Jewish. Not practising or anything, and not something I'm ever likely to make use of in fics, but I think of them as Jewish.
#8 Regulus had a big case of hero worship on his brother when he was young. Sirius always seemed larger than life to him, even when Regulus started hating him.
#9 Remus was Snape's liaison during the First War before Snape started teaching at Hogwarts. That's part of the reason why Sirius and James were suspicious of Remus.
#10 Snape and Regulus were friends but never romantically involved. They did have sex but only once, and it had involved lots of Firewhiskey and the vague idea to make Sirius furious. It's Snape who told Sirius exactly how his brother died.

My *personal* canon also says Remus is also gay and not bi, but when I look at REAL cacnon, Snape is the only one I cannot see being anything BUT gay.

Date: 23 January 2007 10:46 pm (UTC)For the latter I think it's my own little bias. I don't get monosexuality most of the time. While intellectually knowing it exists, I have a hard time believing it.
For the former, I can't explain it, it's just a very strong gut feeling. Maybe it's because I can't see Snape with a woman as anything else than a horrid misogynist and I can't see him like that and not hate him so I'd rather see him as gay. I don't know.
