18 Apr 2007 09:53 pmI was reading this Language Log entry about patterns of nicknaming politicians in French (we're voting this week end for the first turn of the presidential election in case American news are as bad as rumoured), when I saw this line :
"qui vous savez" means "You Know Who"
This will be me, laughing my ass off on the floor.
de Gaulle nicknamed as le grand Charles, le grand Charlot, "qui vous savez" (Canard Enchaîné pretending that they feared censorship)
"qui vous savez" means "You Know Who"
This will be me, laughing my ass off on the floor.
