What I resent about that is the reverse implication, too. Ie: this is "girly", so girls would like it. Therefore, if you're a girl, you must like it. If you like it, you must be a girl. Let's for a moment leave aside the questions of plain bad writing (namely bad secondary characters, uninteresting plot, bad characterization) and just focus on that. It's like car salesmen exclaiming "Oh, we have that one in a wide variety of colours!" when a woman is buying. Because of course she wouldn't be interested in fuel consumption, or the terms of financing. :-p

There's a very small step between "I don't like it, but women do" and "I don't like it, women do, so women like bad writing". Some people seem to have taken it, and are likening "girly" to "bad".
