TV show meme ganked from [livejournal.com profile] novin_ha

Back in the day: 5 shows you loved as a kid:
For anime
1/ Saint Seya (that show was so much on crack it was amazing)
2/ Cat's Eyes (Girls! Kicking ass and stealing! Yay! On high heels! OKAY!)
3/ Dragon Ball (for the early episodes, another show on crack)
4/ Lady Oscar / Roses of Versailles (crossdressing girl swashbuckling in Revolutionary France with tragic love story YAY!)
5/ Mysterious Cities of Gold (Steampunk Mesoamerican, cool antihero and great adventure show)

For liveaction (those were more when i was a teen because I didn't watch liveaction when i was a kid)
1/ Highlander (I did love this show when I was 14 ^^)
2/ X-Files (that one I loved when i was 16)
3/ Dream on (does anyone even remember this one?)
4/ My So Called Life (so much love for Clare Danes ♥)
5/ The Pretender

Who would you do?: 5 Characters you would... well, you know.
1/ Faith
2/ Mrs Parker
3/ Aeryn Sun
4/ Ethan
5/ Inara

(I've been very girl focussed lately ^^)

What? No, I don't watch that, nope - NEVER...: 5 Guilty Pleasures
well, I don't own a TV, you see, so when I watch something I own up to it...

OMGWTF!?!: 5 moments you still remember (and probably won't forget).
1/ Buffy and Spike's kiss in Once More With Feelings
2/ Faith Redemption in the rain in Angel. Oh, and the torture session with Wesley.
3/ Anime but Fuuma licking Kamui's neck just after he killed his own sister and stuff totally was one of those OMGWTF moments
4/ Oh, and the whole of Zuko and Ozai chat during Day of the Black Sun
5/ (stops even trying to stick to liveaction) Anthy and Dios' backstory finally revealed in the shadow play episode, so shiver inducing.

(so, yeah, i'm a sucker for animation. basicaly)

"Tossed salads and scrambled eggs...": 5 TV theme songs you know (and love) by heart.
I can't sing along any liveaction show. But I can do a great number of cartoon and anime from my childhood. Especially :
and many more

The Starting Line-Up: 5 TV stations you check first
Still don't own any TV. So. Bit Torrent?

This is an Environment of Welcoming, and You Should Just Get the Hell Out of Here: 5 characters you wish (or wished) would go away...
1/ Riley
2/ Wilson
3/ Mal
4/ .... err, nah, can't think of any others

That's what she said: 5 quotes you can still quote
1/ Cup of tea. Cup of tea. Almost got shagged. Cup of tea.
2/ I walk. I talk. I shop. I sneeze. I'm gonna be a fireman when the flood rolls back.
3/ We few, we happy few - We band band of buggered.
4/ Out. For. A. Walk... Bitch.
5/ No powers in the 'verse can stop me!

(my buffy quote fu is getting SO rusty. This took me 5 minutes to do :()

Gimme More!: 5 shows you can't get enough of
1/ Avatar
Err... that's about it, for now. I like other shows, but not that much. Unless we're counting anime?

*sobs*: 5 shows cancelled far too soon
1/ Firefly
2/ Ripper
3/ Farscape, even though I didn't watch it to the end (shud up, I know it doesn't make sense)
4/ My So Called Life
5/ Dead Like Me

Aaa! You quoted the same Restless speech! I loved the kiss at the end of OM,WF - but the one in Intervention is my favourite.

Almost got shagged - ♥

Who wouldn't do Faith!

And I watched Cities of Gold, too... Small world, huh?

Well, it was mythic for a lot of people. Even a few Americans watched it (no idea how ^^)

I feel sad for knowing only one of the shows. Which would be Avatar, obviously.

I feel happy, however, for being able to understand (most) of the French!

what, not even the liveaction ones? You don't know Buffy, or Firefly, or Farscape? Oh dear. How old are you? O_o (obviously I'm the one old).

If you ever get the chance, you should totally try to get a few of those franco-japanese cartoons in French. They were often very cheesy and horribly animated by today's standart, but that's gotta be a great way to learn a language XD (and they often had good ideas)

Yay for understand the French! XD

Oh man, your quote 4 is one of my favorite tv moments. It's the accompanying hand gestures that really sell it. Thanks for reminding me of it.

I miss BtVS season 5. Spike was so hilarious in it *sighs*

I'm not really a Mal fan, either. I liked him at first, I guess, but he doesn't wear well for me. I'd be all in favor of ditching him and just letting Inara take over (or keep him in the background so that he can be "just her love interest"). :)

Another fan of Mysterious Cities of Gold! Yay! ...All I really remember about it is that it had a great theme song, and was very good. I looked at the different versions of the intro songs on Youtube, and the Japanese version doesn't seem nearly as good as the tune used for the French and English ones.

(stops even trying to stick to liveaction) Anthy and Dios' backstory finally revealed in the shadow play episode, so shiver inducing.

That scene was brilliant. The play within a play angle just doesn't get old.

OMG yes! I'd read that! The show centered around Inara with mayyyyybe Mal as a background love interest. Maybe. Or Mal as a female character.

Is Clementine the name of a French anime? About a little girl fighting evil/pursued by evil? The name is somehow familiar to me...

there's a link with a few pics : http://www.imineo.com/jeunesse/dessins-animes/clementine/video-clementine.htm, and the opening song in French : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vv1zW7gbIB0

She was a little girl using a wheel chair, with a little cat who got magically carried into folklore / mythology / history / classical literature to live the story and help their heroes (in which she was able to walk and her little cat could talk and fly). There were always a vilain obeying a great flamey guy trying to stop her, of course.

Yes, that's the one I remember. It was such a great anime, and looked very strange to me because I was used to Japanese animation style. But the villain was always so creepy^_^

I should mention that I watched it in Arabic. Great dubbing and they preserved most of the original names and plot lines. Of course, that was in the days before religious fundamentalism spread.

Yeah, it was a very good cartoon, one I could bear to watch again nowaday ^_^ the stories were often dark-ish for a children show and the vilains totally creepy!

It's great you could watch it with a good translation/dubbing... sad that this wouldn't happen anymore :(

The villains were totally creepy! More than 10 years later and I can still remember their scenes with perfect clarity. Part of the horror factor was that they had human shapes and as a child you're not taught that Evil is human.

Yeah. I feel sad for most Arab children these days with the general direction being Magic=witchcraft and not Magic=Wonder. *sighs* But that's an issue for another day.

Ah ! Saint Seiya/les chevaliers du Zodiaque, mais c'est mythique ! I'm sure a lot of french kids were introduced to greek mythology through Saint Seyia and Ulysse 31. ^^

Dragonball... C'est sûr que je préférais la partie où SonGoku était enfant. Ensuite, l'avalanche d'ennemis toujours plus puissants m'a très vite lassé. Ceci dit, je me souviens avoir trouvé hilarant l'épisode du permis de conduire de Goku et Petit Coeur. ^^;

Who is Mrs Carter ? At first I read Miss Parker (from the Pretender). ^^;

I still remember those opening songs. ^^; During our portuguese vacations, we used to play a guessing game humming those songs with my brothers and cousins (we had no TV there). To this day, I still remember the french opening and ending of Candy. (Au pays de Candy, comme dans tous les pays, on s'amuse, on pleure on rit, il y a des méchants et des gentils... and "le prince des collines")
