1. Beginning with the obligatory question: how did you discover Hikago?
One day, a good five years ago, I found my dad reading a manga. Since I had tried and failed to make him watch some good SFF anime I was flabbergasted. Especially since it was a silly shounen manga! But it was about go which explained it, since my dad's pretty fond of the game and plays it online a lot. Once I got over the surprise and bitterness, I read it because it was free manga (duh) and found it actually pretty good. I didn't read it up to the end because the scanlations my dad used had a gap right after Sai's disapearance.
Sometime after I found out there were a some fanfics for it (I think it was a fanfic by aishuu I found, it had ghost!Hikaru playing Akira one last time right after getting killed in a car accident!) and that most of them were pretty good. So I kept a lazy eye for Hikago fic in general when they popped up on my flist. Which became very progressively more often, especially after chaineddove got into it, and when I realised there were some very good reclist in that fandom for when I was bored and wanting good fics.
Then recently, I went out of work so I had a lot of free time and started watching a lot of series, and I remembered my dad had also burned the anime so I could watch that as well and finally know the ending. So I did that. And then I realised the anime still didn't have the ending so I downloaded the last scanlations to get that ^_^;;
And that's it.

2. Manga or anime?
As usual I'm something of a manga snob.

3. Describe your Hikago experience, whatever it might have been.
... doesn't my first answer answer that? I found it pretty good, continously entertaining and fun, rather addictive, with very likeable characters. Love the fact there's basically no villains apart from random fake sellers.

4. Are you active in the fandom? What do you do?
Nope. Lurker purely. Which, given how active I am in my active fandoms, doesn't mean that much.

5. Have you participated in any of the Hikago challenge communities? (E.g. blind_go, ihikago, hng_prompts, fifthmus.)
Nope, nope, nope.

6. Who is your favorite character in the series?
Sai. Then Akira. Then Ogata.

7. Why do you like him/her?
He's adorable, cheerful, selfish, occasionnaly angsty. Love the childlike enthousiasm for go and other stuff. He makes the best mentor ever. I just love when he forgets no one else can see & hear him but he just get carried away and talks to them. Yeah, general adorable-ness.

8. Do you think this character likes those qualities about him-/herself?
No. I don't think he likes his qualities much apart from his obsession for go.

9. Who is this character's best friend (in your opinion)?
^_^; it's not like he interracts with a lot of people other than Hikaru.

10. What do they like about each other?
Go, obsession, enthousiasm, hyperness, mischeviousness, having a good friend who's always there with them...

11. Whom does your favorite character dislike most? (Doesn't necessarily have to be a Hikago character.)
The go cheater from the Heian era.

12. Why do you think that is?
I don't think it's so much the consequences it had for Sai than the blatant disrespect for go. Also the fact Sai was dishounered as a go player and committed suicide as a result certainly plays in too.

13. Who is your least favorite character?
Akari.

14. What do you not like about him/her?
I don't hate her, but she does this random shounen manga girl character which is utterly bland. She's just there to react to Hikaru and has very little of her own personnality which is all the more blatant because that manga has plenty of bit characters who nevertheless have plenty of personnality! I kinda feel embarrassed for her.

15. Imagine this scenario: your favorite character, the best friend, and the disliked person are stranded in a small cabin in the middle of the woods during a heavy snowstorm. They have nothing with them except what they were carrying during their mountain hike. Who dies first?
Sai's already dead, does that count?

16. Do you support any pairings? If yes, please list them here.
I'm fairly easy going about reading pairing fics even though some makes me raise my eyebrow in "errr, okay, why?" way. My favourite are Hikaru/Akira, Ogata/Ashiwara, Kaga/Tsutsui, Mitani/Kishomoto, Mitani/Kujeko, Ogata/Sai...

17. Which pairing is your favorite?
Hikaru/Akira. Probably because it's got the best and more numerous fanfics :)

18. Why do you like this pairing?
No idea, it's horribly fluffy for my usual taste of pairing :) heh, I like the friendly rivalry dynamic, it's loads of fun and they're really good at goading strong reactions from each others.

19. Is there any canon evidence for this pairing?
Not really.

20. What do you think they see in each other? What makes their relationship work (or not work)?
Eternal Rival (TM)! They need each others to grow; both as go player and as human being, and they recognize it. They have a lot of respect for each others, and they're the kind who can have awful arguments and still go back to each others.

21. Could their relationship survive something catastrophic (e.g. separation over long distances/time, infidelity, unexpected pregnancy, Touya Kouyo's disapproval, etc.)?
I think they would still have a relationship, but I could see some of the most catastrophic ones preventing it from being a romantic one. (unexpected pregnancy, heh...)

22. In your opinion, does the Hand of God exist, and can it be achieved?
I have no clue.

23. Assuming that it does exist and can be achieved: Which character do you think will find it first?
Someone in the far far future who wasn't born yet. But to which the legacy of our character would be important nonetheless.

24. Assuming that it does not exist and cannot be achieved: Which character is most likely to die trying?
Touya Kouyo.
