I think Powers' 'Secret Histories' probably work best when they're about something that you don't have a strong real-world connection to, otherwise there's a danger that you'll find his trademark bizarre twists on real history to be a bit jarring. I didn't have that problem so I quite liked Three Days To Never, but I'd say it wasn't one of his best (or most memorable) books.
