Kotori is awesome because:
- she has epic hair! Yeah, I'm shallow, but she really has pretty hair, that sadly get a pretty bad translation to animated format.
- she's very much adorable.
- she's incredibly kind and brave. She's ready to sacrifice herself without hesitation for the sake of saving her brother and childhood sweetheart and it's a pretty epic scene from the PoV of the kind of strength and care it meant from her.
- she's sort of awesome when she's crazy. Okay this is a guilty please, but I love me a (fictional) crazy lady.
- She's the source of many awesome dreamscape early on in X. I love my dreamscapes!
- In animated canon she obsesses with indigo tincture, which is sort of awesome in how quirky and interesting it is!

What haven't I said about Hokuto's awesomeness? She's smart, she's determined, she's creative and entertaining and incredibly brave and caring at the same time. I love that she rescues the girl from Smile by tracing onmyoudo circles with her lipstick. I love that she threatens Seishirou with a knife, and backed that threat. I love that she cares for her brother so much, yet is willing to look for someone he'll love more than her. I love that she gives Seishirou an out even as she kills him, because she wants him to have a chance. I love that she designs clothes so imaginatively and wants to be a married woman too. Hokuto is made of plenty kinds of awesome ♥

I love that she's ruthless. She's always the one making the sensible, pragmatic choices, especially in contrast with that asshole Adama. I love that she's also caring at the same time, and suffering for the choices she makes. She's very very smart and very very capable, which is also awesome. I also love her strange relationship with Baltar; and that she almost killed him, and eventually didn't. Also she's a hot middle aged woman on a TV show and I love that about her.

I'm guilty of this too. ^^; Though I don't think I really appreciated the crazy until I got to like her character for other reasons. And after that I really got to like the dreamscape scenes too.
