7 Apr 2004 06:56 pmI've made a new icon, but i don't have any more room on LJ... should I replace one of my current icon ?

can you tell i love inuendos ? ^_^
anyway, my throat is sore, i got a cold, so i wonder wether to go or not to the Mercredi de la SF.
Happily, one of the research paper i had to do for tomorrow has been rescheduled for the next thursday. But I still got lots of work to do for tomorrow, and an oral presentation about Marx.
rahael made a very beautiful post on her live journal, check it out. It made me think of Tokyo Babylon, in a way, maybe only because it's my current obsession ^_^ but the point about communication, the difficulty to express how you feel, and wanting to be ordinary... that's definitly within the themes of TB.
I always wonder if in Call B of TB, Seishirou meant what he told those girls about 'ordinary people'. He had no real reason to lie, like with many other instance when he sprout wise words for the sake of Subaru's ears, he wasn't holding the facades at that point.
So... does Seishirou, magical assassin, really thinks that the more admirable people are those who lead a common life, those who live throught reality facing all the joys and pains, worries and suffering of reality the best they can ?
Isn't it interresting ?

Given that he has claimed that he can feel no emotions, perhaps he admires that other people can, which causes him to view their existence as something more than mundane. In a sense, his lack of emotions are his one weakness. Though I suppose admiration is a feeling in itself.
At the end of TB, Seishirou does question Subaru's pain, asking him why he feels that way when such betrayals happen everyday in Tokyo. So again, he's bringing up the fact that in everyday life, ordinary people experience such emotions and he's asking why that is. Perhaps he really is curious about it. However, this curiousity about emotions doesn't seem to be a proper justification for his actions in TB and at Rainbow Bridge.
Huh. Well you've definitely made me think. Unfortunately, I don't think I've expressed my train of thought quite too clearly. ^^;;

Yes, he's certainly very curious about emotions.

Oh, you're right ! I had never thought of that passage in that frame of mind. I wonder if it is because he's a master illusionnist that he's interrested about the reality of people and feelings...

heh, you express yourself fine, it's a complicated subject. Seishirou is full of contradictions. We never know much about his motivations as the sakurazukamori. He never claims to like killing people for instance. Does he think of it as a duty ? Or is it just a way to alleviate his boredom ? We never have any idea.
