Woke up insanely late. I guess I'm getting lazy again XD
I won moderator's choice at
x1999_awards, for an icon that was not very good even for me, which is the comm where the moderator was making an ass of herself in a discussion with
hiragizawa and I was considering quitting for this reason ^^;; I think quitting it is, doesn't look like she's going to straighthen her act.
I borrowed Endless Nights from Pierre the other day and started reading it yesterday circa 5am. I still love Del, Death, Desire and Destruction the most. The one by Manara was especially good ;) And I loved the one with Del as Delight yet - she's adorable and didn't change that much now did she ? - Despair's chapter was very interesting too : some genuinely chilling ideas out of the 15. Need to finish reading it, anyway.

Date: 7 November 2004 09:16 am (UTC)When I voted, I pointed out my icon looked all pasted on the one below (which was yours, actually) and I wanted her to rearrange the icons so they'd look separated and things would be fairest to both. It's a normal thing, right? After I posted, I noticed it only happened in 800x600 resolutions. It's not my frigging fault I don't like big resolutions, and she is such an arsehole she just makes sure it looks all cute on her computer, and screw the rest of the people if their computers showed them a different thing.
I didn't even bother replying her back. What for? I won't win anything arguing with a mod. I just had my problems back with the mod at clamp_icontest, but unlike this one, she was a reasonable person and we've become in terms with each other. I don't need more of this, ever.
But I won't quit the community just because she flamed me. F--- her, I'm there for the iconage.

Date: 7 November 2004 09:43 am (UTC)I have a 800x600 resolution as well, and no problem wiht the way the icons were showed (guess it depends from other things as well)
If it had only been the bitchiness, i think i could understand (we all get cranky for no real reasons at time), but she reacted as if it wasn't her problem to make sure the contest that she moderates is fair. WTF ?
I almost answered her to point this out, but then I remembered that last time I had tried to intervene in an arguement between you and an idiot, I had only made things worse and I didn't want to cause problems again...
I guess I'm there for the iconage as well... not like i care much about who wins or not. It's just nice to have an occasion to practice and to admire other people's works. I don't know...

Date: 7 November 2004 10:24 am (UTC)If you could see it fine, then it's my Firefox being messy. So just because I use a bigger screen and a different browser, then who cares? But anyway, I didn't tell her that in my post, but she has no brains to figure it out?
This was my first post:
A favour, please. Could you please rearrange the icons? Mine is all "pasted" on the one below, and that can affect the appreciation of both icons. Thank you.
And then my votes below.
Yeah, I sounded a little cold, and that's why I lowered the tone in my second suggestion. But to make her think I'm a wanky 13 year-old who is scoulding her in her ways to run her community? But that's what it seems she's thinking of me.
Meh, I'm sick of this.

Date: 7 November 2004 01:12 pm (UTC)And yes, the 800x600 resolution - it never mattered if it's FINE for her. It's a goddamn community.
.....hrm. I don't know if it's this chick's first community, but I've already seen enough people not pleased with her attitude. Hopefully she'll quit being like that and actually consider and try to fix things than brush them off.

Date: 7 November 2004 01:54 pm (UTC)I was really eeeeep-ed by the cat one.
the one about the list is also very good, in a funny way
And i found the one about "his lover" very touching.
And i loved the one written as an essay subject.
And the one about the woman dying is one of my genuine big fears *is creeped out*
Did you read Cages ? Not written by Neil, but all by McKean but i found it to be an amazing analysis of the creativity process.
Oh yeah, Neil is definitly there among my own personnal pantheon. I'm such a pagan ^^

Date: 7 November 2004 02:23 pm (UTC)On the other hand, considering some of the lines GNeil has been known to take on gods (read 'Murder Mysteries' for angsty angel slash--I'm not talking subtext, neither!--as well as a prime example), maybe we'd better leave him out. *contemplates* Meep.

Date: 7 November 2004 02:33 pm (UTC)Anyway, he seemed to rather like gods in American Gods, and Brief Lives.
Yes, yes you do. Horrible graphic, but the story !!!
There's some fucking good US comics out there, and I barely know that field.

Date: 7 November 2004 03:07 pm (UTC)See, I haven't read American Gods, so I wouldn't know. (Stupid parents, who get it for me, say I'm too young to read it, then proceed to greatly enjoy reading it themselves...) I seem to recall GNeil saying, at one point or another, though, that he intended the Judeo-Christian God to be a good piece older and, well, crueler than the newer gods. Which is fun--I like scary!God.
My friends are disturbed by my angelslash fascination. I never should have shown them my Psycho!God/Lucifer fic.

Date: 8 November 2004 01:11 pm (UTC)Oh, God's not a wussie, all right, he's one tough fellow XD
You should read the Lucifer comics. It's spinned off after Sandman, and there's quite some subtext between God and Lucifer AND God and Michael.
Endless Nights
Date: 7 November 2004 02:40 pm (UTC)Manara´s art really fitted desire´s story, though ok, a quibble, I expected the resolution to be otherwise, her to drive them to killing themselves fighting than just keeping them waiting for the help. If I am remembering it correctly? I guess my favorite story was Prado´s Dream, I loved that setting and while I did not love Prado´s art at first I do love it now.
Re: Endless Nights
Date: 8 November 2004 02:01 pm (UTC)Destruction's story might be the worst of them, yes.
I had the same expectation out of this story, but it was still good like that. The point was still Desire - and I do love Desire, such a wicked girl/boy ^_^
The Dream one wasn't bad, but I don't think it was my favourite. Though it was lots of fun ^_^
