My Livejournal paid account expires today. My Norton Antivirus abonment died yesterday. Between this and Catie's project, I think the mighty gods of Synchronicity are telling me I should get myself a credit card accepted by most ways of paying things online really, really soon.

Do most banks also close awfully early (say, at 5 pm on saturday and 6 pm on week days) in other countries as well ? Makes things awfully difficult to care for when you work.

In more happy subject, I'm going to the Utopiales for this long week end, which is THE Science Fiction con in France. It's at Nantes, in Brittany, which I'm sure I'll enjoy passing through even without visiting it properly because I love that area. I'll go watch Mirrormask and listen to conferences and meet famous writers, and I need to check the program to better brag all the thigs I'll do.

It's not the World Con, but it'll do. :)

It´ not WorldCon but sounds a lot more manageable! WorldCon was just too big, did not have a clue what was going on half the time (despite careful reading of schedules and excel spreadsheets and all).

Ditch Norton, go with avg free. It really is free and IMO it´s a lot better than Norton, it ocupies less resources (does not have to worry if your copy is legal or registration) and slows the computer a lot less.

oh yes, i'm sure it's easier to enjoy without needing a power of ubiquity times 10. However, I'm sure I'll still miss some stuff ^^

I used to use avg free and I was very happy with it, but when I switched to Windows XP I couldn't install it anymore. Is there now a version working with it ?

I, too, was going to suggest AVG free, and I'm currently running it on Windows XP without problem, so I guess they updated it.

And yeah, US banks are notoriously closed any time you might have off from work. Mine closes at noon on Saturday, which kind of infuriates me in that it's such a short time to be open. "we're open! Ooops, now we're not. Hahaha, fooled you!"

Nope. Spanish banks close at 2:00 pm! And they don't open on weekends.

I never knew when do Venezuelan banks close. That's sort of sad. But I KNOW they opened on the afternoon, at least.

My paid account is expiring on four days. Since I don't have a debit or credit card paypal and/or LJ will accept, I passed the money last week to a friend's account so she'd pay it.

However, fate is a bitch and
a) she got the flu the day before and disappeared for days God, don't let it be poultry flu...
b) the euro currency went down during the weekend and the money I passed to her is not enough

I'm a bit frantic, but even if she pays me days later it expires it'll be fine. I guess. But I'm going to miss my pretty icons...

Our banks close at 3 pm, bastards, and are not open on weekends. OTOH clerks are often overworked, they are supposed to leave at 4 or 5, but often the work they are supposed to do there only lets them leave a lot later.

I am using AVG and XP so they must have a version, since it seems to be working ( knock on wood)

Banks close at 3pm where I'm from. So, yeah, way earlier. And most of them don't even open during Saturdays. But they open as early as 8 or 9 in the morning and they don't have lunch breaks.

Over here they close at 4:30 weekdays, 5pm on friday and usually are not open on weekends at all. Cursed banks...they really try to encourage you to handle things electronically.

Here in Spain depenps on the 'kind' of bank, some named 'Cajas' (savings centers?) not 'Banks' open thursdays until 8pm and in winter 'banks' open on saturdays... and close at 2pm but if you call the bell they are there until 3pm so you can get in if they want to. My dad was a banker, I know ^___^
