Israeli group announces anti-Semitic cartoons contest!
A Danish paper publishes a cartoon that mocks Muslims.
An Iranian paper responds with a Holocaust cartoons contest -
- Now a group of Israelis announce their own anti-Semitic cartoons contest!

Amitai Sandy (29), graphic artist and publisher of Dimona Comix Publishing, from Tel-Aviv, Israel, has followed the unfolding of the “Muhammad cartoon-gate” events in amazement, until finally he came up with the right answer to all this insanity - and so he announced today the launch of a new anti-Semitic cartoons contest - this time drawn by Jews themselves!

“We’ll show the world we can do the best, sharpest, most offensive Jew hating cartoons ever published!” said Sandy “No Iranian will beat us on our home turf!”

I am SO amused XD

Dimona comics? The whole thing is hilarious but that is like, icing on the cake.

The guy holding the contest publishes comics under the name Dimona Comics. I thought it was a funny name. Dimona is this town in the Negev where Israel has its nuclear program. It's a pretty dreadful place, so kind of a funny name for a publishing company.

After I wrote that comment, I went to the Dimona Comics site. It looks pretty cool. I don't think I can handle seeing the entrants in an anti-Semitic cartoon contest, especially if all of the cartoonists are Jews. But I did snort with laughter at the concept, so maybe I'll also find their other work amusing.

Oooh, I see. Heh, funny name yes ^^

I don't know if I'd bear looking at them either - though I assume they'll be more clever or 2nd degree than straight out anti-semitism - I like laughing at conspiracy theories because those things deserve to be mocked mercilessly but beyond that...

The concept is the awesomest thing ever *glee*

*cheers* Now that is an appropriate response to offensive cartoons.

Burn down embassies? Bad idea. Create a self-mocking counter-contest, 99% guaranteed to produce funnier cartoons than the original? Good idea. Because being insulted would be giving them what they want.

(Besides, we can make better jokes. We know ourselves better. Rabid flaming? Not funny. Self-mocking snark? Funny.)

The whole matter is pathetic, I only hope it keeps restraint in 'paper' and no more violence around.
