It's fun and everybody does it and it's a way to be part of the community | It's a christmas thing and I don't do Christmas things. Ever. |
It's a way to challenge myself | No way I'm going to be able to finish a story in time, dude. |
I get a story, too | I'm not confident enough that my writing will be such a gift to whatever person gets it |
Gives me an idea for a story, especially since I seldom have Snupin ideas | I have a bazillion fics I need to write before that. |

Date: 3 August 2006 11:28 am (UTC)Aside from maybe the Christmas thing. I've been known to do Christmas things on occasion.

Date: 3 August 2006 11:45 am (UTC)But I'd need to write a story before to qualify, don't I ?
I hope you're going to do Yuletide !

Date: 3 August 2006 12:09 pm (UTC)I'm in three fandoms which qualify for Yuletide, so chances are good that I'll sign up for it.

Date: 3 August 2006 12:06 pm (UTC)I signed up, and I hate christmas (enough to refuse to capitalize it.) There seems to be a stronger emphasis on the anonymous exchange aspect than the holiday one. I think christmas is just the excuse to hold it. Say you don't want to write/read something holiday themed and you wont get it. It looks like an easy thing to accommodate. Unless your issue is more philosophical...
And I may be slightly biased because I actually checked once to see if you signed up yet because I know you'll request something I want to read. It might even be something I want to write, since I haven't seen a lot of that in the requests so far.
I highly, highly doubt you'll be the worst writer. I offer myself fully for moral support and beta purposes. I think the majority of people who signed up are scared their gift wont be liked. I'm petrified for sure.
The only real reason I have is that it would make me happy if you participated, and that's a selfish-I mean-silly reason. I'd like to see more names in the fest I know and can count on for quality. Totally doesn't outweigh the stress of writing for the fest.
*sigh* I seem to have taken my bravery pills this morning because that was uncharacteristically enthusiastic. I'm gonna go crawl back in my cave now.

Date: 3 August 2006 12:34 pm (UTC)First I'm very glad to see you're still active in fandom, and that you're going to write for it, I was very much looking forward seeing more of you and of your writing ^_^
I feel very flattered you think you'll like what I'll request ^^ I know the feeling !
And thank you so much for the moral support and beta offer ! I might very well take you up on it !

It's the very best reason. Now I really feel I ought to !

May I hug you before you do that ?

Date: 3 August 2006 01:03 pm (UTC)I'm active. I stopped writing to reread all the books because I felt my canon slipping. I am far too dedicated to accuracy for my own good. The experience was... interesting. And time consuming.
I may in fact be a crap beta as I have never done it before, but I've been meaning to try. I'm just terribly shy. (Oops I made a rhyme.) Moral support is easy though!

Date: 8 August 2006 07:11 pm (UTC)Truthfully i ought to do that again now.
moral support is always very welcome ^^ Beta-ing is something I can never propose (and I feel bad about it) because I simply crap at spotting typos and grammar error. Crap to an embarrassing amount (even in my mother tongue).
Don't be ever afriad of telling me what I did was bad though ^^ I promise I won't take it badly.
I'm horribly scared and excited about taking part in that feast right now ^^

Date: 4 August 2006 06:31 am (UTC)For clarification my problem with christmas in general is the fact people pretend it's universal while in fact it's not. These kind of challenges participate to that.

Date: 4 August 2006 02:33 am (UTC)I'm not in the HP fandom, but let me just say this now. This is not something you have to worry about because your writing is lovely. Cross it off your cons list. ^_~

Date: 4 August 2006 05:05 am (UTC)I second Twhitesakura. Cross that right off your cons list.
I was actually nervous about that myself. I just can't imagine how my writing would be a gift, but in your case I am sure whoever is lucky enough to recieve you're story will be thrilled. I would love to see your writing in this fest, if that is any help.
I have a thousand projects in various states of completion and I signed up anyway. *shrug*
