Why do this guy pisses me off so much? It's just an idiot who can't read, somehow it irks me incredibly. Oh well, cue my arguing against the selfishness of Slytherins. Once more.

So this evening I had forgotten my keys inside (door locks itself up) so I had to go back at my parents' to pick up extra keys and get back home = 2 hours. Home at last. A least it was an occasion to pick up my old Japanese notes. Did I mention I'm starting back on studying Japanese? Well, I did, last week. I was happy to find out I had not quite forgotten everything. Still a lot to re-familiarize me over.

Meme, plundered at sword's point from [livejournal.com profile] laurus_nobilis:

Name a character, and I will tell you in no less than 100 words why I love him/her.

I did it once before, so no asking the same characters ^_^

Shiver me timber!

How about Seguchi Tohma (Gravitation)? I feel there's far too little love being professed for Tohma.

You might be asking the wrong person :) I like Tohma, but he's not on my list of favourite characters However I shall endavour to satisfy your request.

Tohma belongs to that category of character I adore which I like to call caring manipulative bastards. He's utterly ruthless and very tricky... but he'll do it all for the sake of the one he loves. It's a kind of obsessive psychology I tend to adore in characters. Another thing I love about Tohma is the fact he's got a very thing first, feel later kind of psychology (i'm not sure I can explain this well) : I see him as someone who intellectualizes everything, who tends to be very rationnal and cold and deep into his mental world (and of course very intelligent)... so all the strong feelings will be something that will take him by surprise with their intensity. I think that's one of the thing that may explain his relationship with Eiri, the depth of it and the fact Eriri was 14. Tohma's just not used to deal with his own emotion. I think that interpretation of his character is influenced a lot by [livejournal.com profile] chaineddove's fanfic Shooting Stars, though :)
Third thing I like about Tohma is the deceptive façade. I love smiling, sweet characters that will politely and cheerfully kill you - and efficiently too XD
Last thing to love about Tohma : his fashion sense! You've got love the hat ♥

Thanks so much. Very good, really articulates a lot of the things I'm really drawn to in Tohma (Love really isn't the right word I suppose. I don't usually love characters in the sense that I think they're admirable people I'd like to spend real life time with so much as I find them sufficiently complex, intriguing and usually messed up enough to spark my imagination.)

One of the (many, many) things that surprise me about the HP fandom is how many people confuse "ambitious" with "selfish". For example, I wouldn't call Slughorn selfish, even if he's definitely ambitious. Also, you can be ambitious and cunning and all other Slytherin traits, and use all that for a cause that isn't focused solely on yourself.

Anyway... meme: Ruu from Princess Tutu.

Yes exactly! You can be ambitious in a selfless way! Actually it's pretty much a prerequisite to achieve great things. Ambitions means caring something else than yourself if you want to prove yourself. But whatever.
I do think that Slughorn is selfish though XD

Okay, Ruu. The first thing I love about Ruu is that she's pretty :) Shallow I know, but I adore her character design, the hair and the purplish colourings ♥
Ruu is introduced to us as being a pretty popular girl, but I liked she was never shown to be a mean girl. She was readily kind to Aruhi. I also adore her snark-feast with Fakir in the early episodes they were very amusing :)
I love that her love is so inconditionnal. The true difference between Aruhi and Ruu, regarding Mytho, was that Ruu was always ready to love Mytho, even when he was becoming a raven (whereas Aruhi was scared by him). I love her contradictions, how she wants Mytho even if that means for him to be a doll, and how she wants otherwise. She's so full of insecurities underneath, it's rather lovely.

Shallow? Nah, Ruu is very pretty! And looks like we like her for the same reasons. ^_^

Arashi is the kind of girl I could fall in love with so quickly it's scary. Which is no surprize because I'm a lot like Sorata in a way :)
I love the reserve-strength-thoughtfulness continuity of her character. She's quiet, very competent, very earnest and responsible, somewhat shy and somewhat very cool. I love the way she first interact in the manga, in the middle of the fight with Kamui, when she calmly refuses to fight.
Like Tohma, she's a character who thinks first, feels later, and because of that is surprised by the intensity of her emotions. Arashi gives me some massive 'still water' vibes, it's hard to describe, she's this huge, tumultuous, passionate mess that radiates. We're all caught in the Eye, but the Storm is within. She's committed entirely to what she does. When she decides she loves Sorata, she moves for it entirely, and without hesitation, decides to betray her side to try to save him. Still water, until the wave smashes.

Franz, okay... I'm not totally sure why I love Franz so much, though of course my fondness for obsessive one-sided love plays a huge role her. Franz is so sweet, so earnest, so incredibly selfless, which is something I can't fully believe in, and that's what's odd with my liking Franz. I love how he tries to play 'reasonnable' one to Albert, which often doesn't work for obvious (and Franz isn't very reasonnable of course XD). I love his determination, how far he will go for the things he thinks matter enough. I always though I'd like to know more about his background. We know about his father's death and that his family isn't as rich as Albert's etc. but it'd be nice to know about his relationship with his mother etc.
He's one of the character that made me sob in front of my computer - I guess that's why I love him XD

Oh dear. What is my favourite character from Loki? Frey I guess XD (with Heimdall and Loki somewhere behind ^^)

Okay Frey is a 'ravissant idiot', he's darling blonde character and he's a hell of a fun one (*must not make Tamaki compareason-must not make...) And... and... he's so cute and nice. And he's got this adorable relationship with grumpy Heimdall, and he's got a FLYING ROBOT PIG! you don't get better than that. Well, there's the ship, that was good too. I guess what I adore about Frey is the way he believes in his own mystique. And at the same time, the fact he's really devoted and kind :)
Now you went and made me want to watch Loki Matentei Ragnarock again *sighs*

I'm going to be greedy and ask you about two characters--Kozue from SKU, and Snape.

From: [identity profile] etrangere.livejournal.com
In a serie filled with sexual predatory males, Kozue is a breath of fresh air. She knows what she wants, she's comfortable in her body. She uses sex for both pleasure and manipulation - but she's not doing it as a "weak" woman (like Shiori does). She's just what she is, and she makes no appology.
I love the pure amorality of Kozue's character. In SKU she stands for the State of Nature, and she does it very well "we're wild animal". Both the fierce protectiveness for her brother is there and the weird caring for small, innocent animals (quite the opposite of Nanami). Kozue is much more confident than Miki, but she aknowledges his superiority in gift in an interesting way at the end of their double episode in S1. They obviously don't relate to the exterior in the same way.
Kozue's also the only character who doesn't lie to herself, who doesn'twarp her dream into a nice illusory make up. Witness how quick is her trip to the elevator - Kozue doesn't need a long time to get in touch with her subconcious, she already knows what's there.
I like her straightforwardness :)
