You know... this time is usually my least favourite period of the year. Between the cold, the night, the fake cheer, the febrile business, and the boredom of the Christmas days themselves, I tend to really hate December. But this year I've had a delightful month of December, which I owe a lot to you and to fandom. Thanks and much love and well wishes to all of you ♥.

Without further ado, the recs :

Storm Break (PG-13)
Severus find a chance for happiness at precisely the worst possible time.
Another delightful H/C fic that's very effective. Beyond the loveliness of the emotions invoked, I really loved this fic for the characterization of Remus, his reserve and quietness. The story fits well inside canon, between the end of OotP through HBP, and feels very plausible.

Handel with Care (NC-17)
After the War, Remus finds that Severus is serving a most unusual probation.
This fic is a true jewel. Between hilarious excerpts of articles and letters, the histrionics of the two divas of the opera, the richness of enjoyable details and secondary characters, Remus and Severus' romance is well written, well paced and really touching. Sweet, funny, intelligent, well crafted, it's a gorgeous story.

Methods of Suicide (PG)
A post-final-battle fic with plenty of H/C and angst (Lupin as the comforter). Snape has little reason left to live accompanied by mental/emotional/physical infirmities, and now the holiday season and everyone else getting on with their lives is making it worse. Lupin is one of few who notices.
Another exquisite H/C fic for the win! Oh dear, this fic is a heartbreaker. The slow, patience of Lupin trying to reach out to Snape, Snape's concrete despair and frustration with his inability to do magic. I really loved the rhythm of the fic around Snapes envisioning different methods to kill himself. Very in character.

Thirteen Monthes (NC-17)
The Wizarding World has forgiven Snape, but Snape hasn’t forgiven the Wizarding World. And gardening.
This fic is another of my personal favourite of the fest. The writing is among the best, beautifully crafted and with a stunningly characterized Snape. Remus through his eyes is also perfect. The slow building of the story through the months and Snape's gardening works wonderfully. It's the kind of story that makes me want to stand up and dance across the room (too bad I was at work when I read it ^^) and which makes you both laugh and cry while reading. Be sure not to miss it.

Erstwhile Expectations (R)
(no summary provided)
This story is written around Snape and Lupin's confrontation during the second war, after HBP. It's very intense and passionate, with lovely characterization and a riveting suspense. Very effective bit of writing that really makes you feel that all bets are off until the very end.

As Simple As That (PG-13) and Epilogue : The Fire Thief (NC-17)
When the past Severus cannot recall starts to haunt him, Eileen turns to the man who was there when she wasn't.
This is another of the fic that have really boggled my mind with the goodness of it ^_^
After the war Snape is punished by a removal of most of his memories of his adult's life, and Eileen takes him back at home. The main story is told by Eileen's voice, and she wholly swept me off my feets and utterly convinced me. This is the best characterization for Eileen I've ever seen. She is, very much like her son, harsh, dry, intelligent, unforgiving to others and to herself, but also more loving that she gives herself credit for. If this was a Gen fic (which it could have been until Remus stepped in ^^) this would have to be one of my ultimate favourite fanfic about a female character.
Then there's Snape, without his memory, but with the same sharp intelligence, curiosity and personality, who's trying to find out who he was, and his interaction with Remus who little by little let him know about their common past. We only get to see through that past by little tibits and in the epilogue but what a stunning picture is displayed. I can't tell more but I found it one of the most fascinating, original, heartbreaking and IC depiction of their characterization ever.

I do hope that your December continues to bring you unexpected delights. ♥
