I never upload songs and I download a few. I thought I might upload some French songs for once :

Le Tourbillon - Vanessa Paradis
Vanessa has such a sexy voice, and the song is lovely. For some reason I read it as very femslashy (t'wasn't meant to be)

Chacun pour soi est reparti
Dans l'tourbillon d'la vie
Je l'ai revue un soir aie aie aie
Ca fait deja un fameux bail

Motivé - Zebda
Imagine a funky hip hop group singing the Chant des Partisans, except adding a couple of lines as refrain to it? Yeah, right.

Random good French hip hop ^^

La Réputation - George Brassens
A classic. Naughty, amusing and sarcastic song.

En suivant mon ch'min de petit bonhomme ;

A Cabrel song for [livejournal.com profile] bronze_ribbons ^^ This one is rather melancholy, which is probably why I like it.

Voir les trains s'éloigner
Les plafonds chargés de bijoux
Et tous ces gens attablés, heureux
Et nous, sur les bas-côtés, fièvreux
De voir les trains s'éloigner

Fais comme l'oiseau - Michel Fugain
Old seventies song. I love these kind of music. It's sorts of cheesy.

One of the famous song by French rock group Noir Désir

La Fidélité - Miossec
I love this song. It's terribly dirty one about faithfulness and the lack of it, and talks with an incredible intensity about want and love.

From a music hall of the late seventies, early eithees. Cheesy but fun. I think this song defines romanticism as I see it.

Avec le Temps - Léo Ferré
Very sad classic song.

Née en 17 à Leidenstadt - Goldman, Jones, Fredericks
Probably their best song.

Bonnie & Clyde - Gainsbourg
Venomous Gainsbourg at his best

Paris - Marc Lavoine & Souad Massi
Gorgeous song, especially with this remix with Souad Massi. My favourite "Paris" song.

Ne me quites pas - Jacques Brel
Jacques Brel does obsessive love and beautiful texts like no one else

Ne me quitte pas
Je ne vais plus pleurer
Je ne vais plus parler
Je me cacherai là
A te regarder
Danser et sourire
Et à t'écouter
Chanter et puis rire
Laisse-moi devenir
L'ombre de ton ombre
L'ombre de ta main
L'ombre de ton chien
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas

Mon amie la Rose - Natasha Atlas
Gorgeous remix with oriental influence of an already gorgeous song

Je me suis fermée la nuit.
Me suis reveillée vieillie.
Pourtant j'etais trés belle.
Oui j'etais la plus belle.
Des fleurs de ton jardin.

The Bonnie & Clyde I grabbed immediately - it brings back memories! Others I will also definitely listen to, especially as I listen to a lot of French hip hop these days (I think I study more French by trying to decipher lyrics than ever I did in school *g*)

heh Gainsbourg rocks. I consider Bonnie & Clyde my theme song for Bellatrix and Rodolphous ^^

I haven't listened to French hip hop since i was in high school so i'm afraid my sources are dated, but it was good in those days. Not yet so commercial.

If you want a translation of lyrics ask away!

I'll work on the lyrics... exercise for my brain! I have no idea at all about French music in general, only what I glean from the internet. (Probably similar to all those J-pop fans whose music is all anime themes! - what's the French for dasai?) *Bonnie!*

Are their translations available for these songs? I'll download regardless but I'm curious. XD

Well, I don't know. Some probably do. (le chant des partisans definitly does) most of them probably not.

If you curious about lyrics I could try translating some, but I don't think I'm really good at it!

Hiya! I friended you a little bit ago, from either curiouswombat or aubrem, because you seemed really neat. These are all excellent songs, I especially like Le Tourbillon, Fais comme l'oiseau, and Paris. Thanks for the downloads.
