What fanfiction was it? (yay, rec)
In what circumstances did it happen? (were you already in the fandom, were you a newcommer to the fandom and that was the first fic that settled your taste, did the fic bring you into the fandom? etc.)
How did you find this fanfic? (big list of recs, personnal rec from a friend, a bit of a random event? etc.)
How much of a convert did you become (biggest OTP, one of your favourite ships, just one ship among others? etc.)
Do you still love this fanfic just as much, or did you tastes change once you were into the ship?
Has the opposite ever happened to you, has a fanfiction succeeded to repulse you from a pairing on a permanent basis (don't link to it! that could be considered wanky ^^ unless that was the objective of the fic, of course)

Having discovered fanfic I was reading mostly Harry/Draco stories, but a lot of them were too teenage and too prettily romantic for me. And then I clicked on this story at the restricted section archive by accident I think (I was a lurker at the time and it was definitely not from a rec.) It's Snape/Black, and it's hot and emotional and dark and so good. I proceeded to read all of her Snape/Black stories, and then I think most of the stories on The Thin Line (a Snape/Black) archive.
I really did become a convert, not just to the pairing, but to Fabularasa's vision of Snape and Black. They are men. They are complex and intelligent and broken and grown up and immature all at the same time. They are men. I can't say that enough. I was such a relief after all that teenage angst.
I still love this ship, but it's rare that a new Snape/Black story comes along, and I've since branched out into all sorts of pairings (mostly with Snape though) and indeed other fandoms.
Anyway if anyone out there is reading HP fanfic and hasn't read Fabula's stories (unlikely I know) then please go check them out. (I think most of her stories are on the archive I gave the link for above.) Jossed by canon they may be, but eh, who cares.
