Still got some work to do, heh?

Do you know which you got wrong?

In any case I wouldn't worry too much. I know some - particularly the punctuation, and the 'only' question - are both correct depending on style choice.

I don't want to ruin it for anyone else who hasn't taken it yet - I'll PM you the answers through the board.

Hé bé... Et dire que je suis totalement incapable de m'exprimer en anglais aussi bien que toi. ^^;

I'm always in awe of french authors writing their fics in english.

Thank you^^

I do use a beta reader for my fics' syntax & spelling though ^^

I agree with eefster- the quiz manages to:

-present valid alternatives as either/or questions, which is silly;
-Use poor synonyms: 'gigantic' really isn't a good synonym for 'ponderous'; and my personal favourite
-Present American variant grammar as correct (grr!)

So I shouldn't worry... :-)

I think you're right TCH. Some of their answers are either wrong or common variations. I can't be that wrong on commas!

huhu, bad quizz then, I'm relieved.

What DOES ponderous mean?

Date: 30 June 2007 03:30 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] arethusa2.livejournal.com
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French ponderus, from Latin ponderosus, from ponder-, pondus weight
1 : of very great weight
2 : unwieldy or clumsy because of weight and size
3 : oppressively or unpleasantly dull : LIFELESS

I think the answer would be "gigantic," but that's not a very good choice either.

I would have to say, though, that the grammar score is debatable. In question 6, for example, both answers are acceptable: it's a question of style which you prefer.

I do know my english cuts the mustard and my hiberno-english makes the damn mustard :P. My american, however, is obviously crap enough. I'll live :D

Thank you. Now I'm feeling better about my score. Thank god there's no test for Eastern European accents. :-p
