Does Nurmengard have a special meaning? It sounds familiar but I can't figure it out.

The sonority of the word obviously evocates Nuremberg which was famous both for holding several first Nazi meetings, and for being the place of the post war Nazi trials (there a big movie about Nazism called "From Nuremberg to Nuremberg")

The reference to the gate to Nurmengard with the tag line "For the Greatest Good" is an obvious reference to Aushwitz and its gateway which had written on it "Work sets you free".

So just one among many unsubtle WW2 references. You could do a drinking game out of them.

I see. Thanks for explaining it. I did get a feeling of Nazi Germany phobia but I didn't understand the references.
