I haven't mentionned this yet but some people led by

melusinahp chose to start reading A Song of Ice and Fire (most of them for the first time) and post their impression at

asoiaf_chat. I you have as much a kick as I do at seeing people enjoying for the first time something you already love, you might be interested in following.

I realised today that any random person could come along and post a spoiler just to be an asshole. You can make the setting so that only members can post -- and I have -- but, still anyone can comment to a post. Kind of lame.

You can also change your settings so that all comments from non-members are screened. Just go to the comment settings page and switch to "work as" your community.

To the original point: I have been meaning to read those books, and I'd love to do it with a bunch of people, but is this ever not a month in which I have the time to do so. ;_;

Yes. That's the kind of thing a good mod does to protect the members of her community, lol. But it wouldn't help me! I'd still have to see the spoilers. Sigh. ;)
