Aang didn't just almost die in that iceberg, he did die a little, and the Avatar Spirit did activate the next would-be Avatar IT'S JUST LIKE SLAYERS IN BUFFY OKAY! That was a Water Bender but she died in Fire Nation attacks before her powers could be manifested. Then there was an Earth Bender who realised it but who was too much of a coward to use it. When he died, the next Avatar was in the Fire Nation.

Setsuka always wished to be a Grandmother. Her wish was strong enough to be carried out by the Sakura Grave to Fuuma, who used Seishirou's body and his own cells, magic and the labs which had created Nataku, to create a new baby girl. Knowing the girl wouldn't survive the year 1999, which would have gone against Setsuka's wish, he contacted Yuuko to send the baby to another dimension. The child was found and adopted by a couple of very rich Earth Kingdom people who had Wished for a daughter and contacted Yuuko for it.

When Fuuma became 'Kamui' to the Dragons of Earth, his spirit was displaced and transferred to an artificial spirit created especially by Clow in prevision of this day so it wouldn't be lost. However the trauma of the soul transfer made him lose most of his memories and changed his personnality a bit. Fuuma's still there in Watanuki's soul, if only Kamui could find him.

She will be born again when she'll take back her identity of Sansa Stark, smoke and salt are never hard to come by. The death of Lady symbolizes the sacrifice of the loved one to forge her "Sword" which is Sandor (Sandor has been tempered by fire three times in the series, by his brother, at the battle of Blackwaters, and in the combat against Beric).
There's been foreshadowing that she'll be a queen (better than Cersei), with Littlefinger she'll gain claim over several regions, and then will lead the fight against The Others.

When Lu-Ten died, Iroh went into the Spirit World, desperate to see his son again. Alas the vagaries of spirit world were too much for his grief stricken mind, and he got lost irremediably. Ursa on exil tracked Iroh in time before the left alone body died out. She went in the Spirit World at her turn, hoping to rescue him, but never managed. Once there she got her face stolen by Koh, so the only way to come back was to follow into Iroh's body. Thinking that it was the only way she could go on protecting her son, that's what she did.

HAHAHA! One of my personnal fanon, but it'll take a while to explain.

Well. There's this game called Mage:The Ascension which is about Mages in the modern world, and this game called Mage:The Sorcerer's Crusade which is about the Renaissance version of that world. In this world, reality is shaped by people's belief. When lots and lots of people believe in something, that thing becomes reality (it's what they call the Consensus, or consensual reality). In the Medieval Age, in Europe, the world was actually flat, and various superstitions worked.

However they are specific people, who are Awakened, and called Mages, who are able to more directly affect reality with their beliefs, including to go against the consensus. They have a strong, complex vision of reality, called a Paradigm, which allow them to do it. Paradigms can be based upon faith (some Mages are miracle workers), symbolical systems (such as Hermetic sorcerers), or pseudo-science, etc. Their paradogms defines the tools (foci, can be incantations, talismans, prayers, dancing, a skill in mechanics, a knowledge of astrology, sacrifices, meditation, martial arts etc.) to do magic. Coincidental magic is magic which works with the local Consensus. Vulgar magic is magic which works against the local Consensus, and it causes a backlash against the Mage.

At some point in beginning of the Renaissance, a group of Mages have gathered together. They all had a more scientific paradigms (before it was called scientific though), they works with organized framework, they works with mechanical tools, observation of the human body's reactions, etc. They thought that the human society was living in fear and obscurity, not least of all because of the various nasty supernatural creatures that were preying on it. They were yearning for a more enlightened era. They called themselves the Order of Reason and they declared war against the Mages who did nothing but keep humanity enslaved in its ignorance and obscurity. They started helping the world to change.

The world would become smaller as ships explored new shores. Wicked creatures like Krakens would be slayed. Gods playing with human fortunes were bound. Profits would be made of the natural world.

Which is why I see Beckett as a member of the Order of Reason, the subgroup specialized in trade and money magic called the Guild; and Mercer is one too, the subgroup specilized in spying and assassination called the Ksirafai.

At sea, there is no Consensus because no one actually lives there. That means that magic of all kind is extremely easy. That's why sailors, and especially pirates, have always frequently dabbled in it. That's also why it's a place from where it's easier to reach the spirit world (the Umbra) and the other shores lying in it. If you follow the proper directives and the right maps. It's also been a natural refuge for the other Mages, the ones who didn't belong to the Order of Reason. (Some of them are organized into the Council of Traditions, others are independant Cratfs).

This is the background.

Jack Sparrow is a Mage, of course he's a Mage, even if he's mostly a dabbler. He was taught by Tia Dalma. He mostly uses Coincidental magic though, with a spatter of random superstition and magical stuffs as well. He's got a bit of Entropy magic (which allow him to pull up the impossible plans and fall back on his feet, and also grants him luck), Spirit (just enough that he made his deal with Davvy Jones), Mind (to be extremely charming and convincing people), and Correspondance (helps knowing exactly where you are, and where other things are, and helps with the most impossible kinds of swashbuckling like the firing-cannon-jumping-over-to-the-other-ship).

After the war, Percy had some troubles finding a job back again and wanting to get out of the gloom (and his guilt about his brother's death despite how absurd it is), he went in the US. He eventually ran into an organisation of people fighting monsters and supernatural stuff for which his competence as a Wizard was useful. He met Faith, Faith expressed her interest in a rather agressive way, Percy say "ngggg? Mmmmmmm"! They became an item.

Seishirou's soul united with Subaru's soul when he took upon his eye. Together they realised the fullness of the yin and yang.

Soon after the End of the World happened, Earth as it was was destroyed, but in the last minutes, Kamui's wish was to recreate a new earth where people would be closer to the elements and spirits so as to know to protect it. Seishirou and Subaru's soul, because of its completeness, became able to more fully manipulate the elemental magic and the spiritual one. Carrying the dual Dharma of the Sumeragi and Sakurazuka clans, it made its duty to protect the world and make a bridge between people and spirits. Thus it became the Avatar.

Ursa and Irisa were twin sisters, the last descendant of Avatar Roku they never forgot how their great grandfather was assassinated, they decided to follow the family tradition to uphold the Avatar ideals of peace and fraternity between people. As ladies of the court this would be difficult to manage, so they decided to always pretend they were only one of them, while the other would be free to take on the alternate identity of The White Lotus, and leading the organisation of the same name.

Many years ago, they managed to get married to the Firelord, a position which allowed them much information and power to accomplish their goal. Ursa fell pregnant with Zuko, and during this time, Irisa travelled the world, made connection with people, helped fighting against the Fire Nation.

Later on, Ursa became the one voyaging, but she very soon disappeard in the South Pole. After having almost drowned in a terrible storm, she was rescued by the Water Tribe but found herself amnesiac. Falling in love with Hakoda, she bore him two children... before being killed in a Fire Nation attack.

Meanwhile Irisa was pregnant with Azula, worried sickly about her sister but without any mean to find her. With grief, Irisa took care of Zuko as her last memory of her sister.
Eventually, the assassination of Azulon gave her the opportunity to travel the world in search of what has became of her sister.
