Pick as many fictional characters as you want from a anime/manga/book/video game/etc. I know and I'll answer the following questions to the best of my abilities.

1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Likewise if you dislike the character.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? etc etc)
8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone whose new to the fandom?
10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?

1) I think she's awesome and hot and I love her to bits! Because she kicks ass, and she loves fighting and she's very no nonsense, and she can be vicious when necessary but kind too. Oh, and parents issues.
2) Of course she is important to the plot, she's part of the main five. Yeah I do wish they'd focus a little tiny bit more on her in this third season.
3) I can relate with feeling smothered by your parents, yes, sometimes loving prisons are the worst.
4) I LOVE THE AVATAR FANDOM! (except for the part where it's stupid, 'course)
5) I loved Toph's interactions with Iroh, non shippy wise. I also loved Toph interaction with Aang, they're very cute as friends. Toph and Katara also have their moments, either in bickering and in bonding - I'm not sure yet about shipping them, but the idea is intriguing. Rather likes the Toph and Zuko and I'd go as far as shipping them, here. I actually don't know what to think of Toph's crush on Sokka for some reason, it doesn't really appeal to me.
6) Seeing more of her. From earlier on.
7) I'd hope we could be good friends, I don't see any reason we wouldn't be. Although that might mean I'd get my ass kicked on occasion.
8) All time favourite, definitly.
9) I don't like hyping or warning for characters before someone watches a show because I prefer for them to have virgin experience and be entirely unspoiled - it's much more fun. When I had a friend watch the show, I did tell him my favourite character had yet to appear, but I didn't explain myself, and when he watched The Blind Bandit, he was just as quick as I was to fall in love with her :D
10) Yeap, everyone loves Toph.

Tell me about Sansa!

Date: 25 February 2008 12:33 pm (UTC)
ext_2023: (sansa)
From: [identity profile] etrangere.livejournal.com

1) Sansa's one of my favourite character. I like that she's compassionate and kind with almost everyone. I also like that she does have a backbone, although it's one that is polite and well mannered. I also adore that she's basically a fangirl, loving songs and stories like this. Loved her interraction with Sandor, too.
2) Sansa hasn't been the most active character so far, but I do believe she'll have a key role in the plot, yes. I hope she'll get an occasion to prove she'd be a better queen than Cersei.
3) I can relate to Sansa, because I do daydreaming a lot as well, I read fantasy books after all ^^ She definitely does grip me emotionnaly.
4) I adore ASOIAF!!!!
5) Sandor/Sansa OTP. Yes, it's sick and wrong and quite unhealthy but so much fun and occasionnaly cute. I like Sansa's interraction with Arya, too, and I'm quite intrigued with the development of her relationship with Littlefinger. Cersei and Sansa also had their intriguing moments.
6) I thought Martin was a bit unfair to her character in GoT, manipulating us into siding with Arya early on. I'd like a fairer deal for her.
7) To be honest I don't know if we'd get along fine, I might get annoyed by her centers of interest XD but she's a sweet person, so I don't think I'd hate her.
8) Definitly a favourite of mine ^^
9) I've done "yay you don't hate Sansa" noises before to people who were in the process of reading. Sometimes I tell them that she does get better.
10) Sansa has way too many hatters. Which I find ironic coming from fantasy readers! XD

1) I do like Fakir a lot. He's a bit of a moody jerk at the beginning of the show, but he grows on you. He's so earnest and determined, and he's so sweet with Ahiru. I also like his thoughtfulness, he's got depth.
2) He's very important to the plot! He's got to be all meta and a writer even if that means renuncing being the fighter he wanted to be. But that's pretty important too.
3) I relate with the theme of writing, how difficult it may be. But I'm not much like Fakir as a person.
4) It's a very cute and perky fandom, I like it.
5) I love Fakir's relationship with everyone on the show. With Ahiru, with Mytho, with Rue, with Author. Even his relationship with Drosselmeier is interesting in a non shippy way.
6) Nope.
7) I'm not sure what kind of relationship I would have with Fakir, he's so moody at times I don't think I'd get along very well with him XD
8) I do love Fakir the best of the Tutu fandom, but maybe not an all time favourite.
9) I wouldn't say anything and let that person discover the character for themselves.
10) Yes, I think Fakir's pretty popular in this fandom!

1) I love Hokuto, she's incredibly brave, perky, fun, has a great sense of humour and a lot of class. Mainly I love her attitude, how positive it was, even when faced with her death.
2) Throughout most of TB she's not that important, but in the Seishirou/Subaru overall arc, she's definitly key. Without her nothing would have happened how it did.
3) I felt for her and her death, but I don't think I can say I relate to her.
4) I adore this fandom. Sometimes it's a bit wanky and young, but I love that everyone in it has a pretty morbid sense of humour.
5) It's hard to ship Hokuto, because her brother was the most important person in her life (I don't mean romantically!). There's Kakyou/Hokuto of course, but I never get the sense that Hokuto reciprocates. I also love the idea of Hokuto and Karen to gether, and I've written some Hokuto/Meiling which is intriguing enough. Non romantically, I love the Sumeragi twins relationship, and Hokuto's relationship with Seishirou. I wish we knew more of her relationship with her grandmother as well.
6) No!
7) Quite typically the kind of character I'd want to be friend with. But I'd prbably just worship her from afar ;D
8) Out of Clamp characters, she's definitly one of my most favourite.
9) I might use Hokuto to hype TB as a series with a cool female character.
10) I've never seen Hokuto bashed. Then again, she's not written quite as much as other characters.

Hmmmmmmmm... Haruhi.

From: [identity profile] etrangere.livejournal.com
1) I like Haruhi, she's very refreshing as a shoujo heroine. I like her no nonsense attitude and her ability to cut to the heart of the matter. And she's smart.
2) She's the main character, of cours she's important!
3) I can relate quite a bit to Haruhi, in terms of not being girly, being a bit of an oddball. Not thinking gender matters :D I'm not sure if I could say she grips me emotionnaly though. Of course it's not like Haruhi spent time angsting.
4) To be honest I don't really know the Ouran fandom as such.
5) I kind of ship Haruhi/Tamaki/Kyouya including all sub ships, so I love those relationships. I also like how the canon displays her relationship to all members of the club frankly, even though the reverse harem syndrome is a bit annoying even when parodied.
6) No change plz.
7) I think I could be friend with her.
8) One of my favourite, but not that high in the top list :D
9) I'd hype her as an atypical shoujo heroin yes.
10) I don't really know, but I can't see anyone bashing Haruhi. >_>;;

Azula! Or Zuko. :D

ext_2023: (drama)
From: [identity profile] etrangere.livejournal.com
1) Azula makes a pretty cool vilain, and I like her as such. She's smart, for one, very competent at intimidating people and planning ahead. I also like that she's such a dork in The Beach.
2) As one of the main vilain, Azula definitly matters, even if in a somewhat secondary manner.
3) I can't claim to relate much to Azula, she's a bit too sociopathic for me. Nor can I say she grips me emotionnaly.
4) The avatar fandom is okay, it's got its CRAZY sides, but some are cool.
5) I have a guilty taste for Azula/Zuko, and their relationship in general interests me. I'm also intrigued by Azula/Ty Lee (romantically or not), and Ozai/Azula (likewise).
6) I wish we knew her motivations a bit better. Right now I find her a bit too utterly cold and flawless in her vilainy. I want a sense of vulnerability, other than the dorkism, without breaking character.
7) She's pwned me, and I'd be very afraid of her.
8) She's neither an all time favourite nor a lest favourite.
9) Couldbe used to hype Avatar as a series with a great non sexualized female vilain.
10) Azula is popular enough and well appreciated as a cool vilain, although I got a feeling it's more the case for the fanboys.

1) I have a bit of a hate/love relationship with Zuko, but it's fair to say he's grown on me to the point where I rather adore him, even if I like mocking him. He's got a very compelling storyline, and it feels very rewarding when for once he doesn't make the stupid choice. Also he's extremely cute in his dorkiest moments. Oh, and I totally have a weapon crush on those two swords of his, loved the action scene with them.
2) Zuko is the most important character of the series along with Aang.
3) He does grip me emotionnaly, but I don't relate to him at all XD
4) See above.
5) Zuko's my little black dress of this fandom. I like him with Azulo, with Toph, with Mai, with Aang if well written, with Jet of course, I also like Zuko/Jin and Zuko/Song... In a non shippy way Zuko's relationship with his family fascinated me, be it with Azula, with Iroh, Ozai or Ursa. I love fucked up family dynamics ♥
6) Zuko wouldn't be Zuko if we changed him.
7) He'd probably annoy me too much for us to be friends :D
8) He's somewhere on the list, but not at the higest level
9) If I knew someone liked a specific kind of antihero/antivillains, yeah I might use him to hype Avatar.
10) Zuko gets a fair share of popularity and bashing both. Mostly I think he's well liked.

Ooh, thanks for the answers. :D

For some reason, I thought you'd like Azula better than you seem to. Although I agree that she her villainy is a bit too flawless at present, I actually think that aspect of her character is part of what makes her so interesting. Unlike in many series, she doesn't seem to have the obvious Achilles Heel or readily apparent flaws that most antagonists do -- so I'm curious about what they'll do with her in the long run. Hopefully they'll manage to make her a more rounded character in the meantime.

I have to admit, though, one of the main reasons I like her is because she's just so damn cool. XD

Also, can I ask for another character?

She is cool, and I love that she's a competent villain. It's more her sociopathy I dislike than wanting a flaw in competence, you know. I like being able to empathize with villains as well.

Sure, ask away!

How about Anthy?

Date: 29 February 2008 11:40 pm (UTC)
ext_2023: (changeling)
From: [identity profile] etrangere.livejournal.com
1) I adore Anthy, she's just awesome. Passive agressive, manipulative, spiteful even on occasion. Sweet and a victim on the surface. Quirky and she's got one hell of an odd sense of humour. Likes animals and nature. Finds Miki sweet. Can be extremely creepy. Yeah, I adore Anthy. It did took me a while, had to watch the whole series before I liked her. But she's a witch. Of course I have to love her.
2) Anthy is the other main character. She's the reason they're all fighting. he is the plot.
3) For some weird reason, I totally identity with Anthy. I'm not entirely sure why, as a person I'm not much like her except for being quirky. But she's very human, very flawed in a way that I can totally relate with. And she's a witch AND a hanged man figure. So. She does grip me fairly emotionnaly, although she's not one to angst much.
4) The Utena fandom is wicked cool but alas pretty dead. Seriously awesome fandom full of cool, intelligent, pervy fandom. I like that it's got a pretty even male/female ratio too.
5) I'm intrigued by Anthy/Akio and squicked at the same time. I guess I like it because it is so squicky, yet such a fundamental part of their characters, of their interractions with each others. And, oh, the lovely mindfucks. I like Anthy's relationship with Utena but for some reason don't like it as a romance. I'm not sure why. I keep finding the idea of Anthy/Kozue very, very hot.
6) Is there anything about the character you would change? NO.
7) If I knew Anthy in real life, I think I would probably hate her, or be extremely frustrated in her. She has a gift in bringing the worst in everyone (or at least that's her role in the series), and I don't think I'd still be able to show a noble core like Utena did XD
8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites? YES! Totally. In the top 10.
9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone whose new to the fandom? I wouldn't say much but to watch her carefully, and not to assume too much about her. But I wouldn't want to spoil everything.
10) Is this character popular with the fanbase? I don't really know. She's got a few haters, and a few fans as well. An even balance I'd say.

1) I do adore River, on an odd day, she was my favourite character from the show. Of course I kind of have a fetish for crazy dangerous fey-like women, but River's the only one of them who's not a villain.
2) River's fairly important to the overall plot of what ought have been Firefly S1 and of the movie, of course. But she's not very central to many episodes.
3) I do feel for her and what she undergoes. I can relate for her in a way, although not for any good identifying reason.
4) I've never paid attention to the Firefly fandom as such unless fics appeared on my flist
5) I do find the Tam siblings dynamic interesting, although not in a shippy way. I have a guilty taste for River/Jayne which I always thought was kinda like Sandor/Sansa where Sandor was less smart and Sansa could flip out and kick his ass. At least it works like this in my mind. However I never hunted fics and had been told that pairing mostly had badfics so I'm absolutly delighted that curtana writes such good River/Jayne ♥
6) Honestly, it'd have been nice if the Tam siblings were overall more clearly marked as Asian. The actress is amazing, but I find it weird the part of the show that used Chinese a lot as a background but then disregarded it in the follow through of the actors.
7) ... I'm not sure I'd have much to say to her. She's kind of crazy.
8) She's one of my favourite, but not a one time favourite.
9) I probably wouldn't mention her much unless I know the person had a specific fetish for this kind of character.
10) As far as I know she's popular enough.

From: [identity profile] etrangere.livejournal.com

I don't remember Jaelle enough, I mean, it was 10 years ago that I last read Fionavar at least. Sorry. So I'm doing Aang.

1) I do like Aang! I like that he's carefree, compassionate and likes doing fun things. I also appreciate his flaws. He's sometimes a little bit childlike for my taste, but he does grow up very quickly ^^
2) Aang's the most important character on this show!
3) I have a huge inclination toward the air element, so I can relate to those aspects of his personnality. I'm not much like any character of Avatar, but Aang might actually come the closest. I'm not sure I'd say he grips me a lot emotionnaly though.
4) Avatar, crazy, fun, crazy. See above.
5) The show bash us over the head with the Aang/Katara which I alternatively find cute and boring, not something I want to see explored in ships. The Aang-Zuko relationship is interesting, shippy or not, and I also love the Aang-Toph friendship. Other than that...
6) Sometimes I wish all the characters from Avatar were at least a couple of years older. It wouldn't be the same show, but I think I'd like Aang better if he was less of a kid ^^
7) Aang is definitly the kind of character who would be sweet, adorable and fun to know.
8) Not one of my all time favourite, no. :)
9) I probably wouldn't hype Aang.
10) I've never seen anyone bash Aang, but few people are singing his praises either. I guess that means he's fairly popular for a main character of an ensemble cast (they usually get somewhat bashed ^^)
