Yes. This. Although I think LF is even more well developed, or maybe it's a function of him being a part of a more realistic, less Miltonian setting.

Misato!! I have only watched a couple of episodes and read five volumes of the manga, but Misato rocks so much. She is a rock of fun in an ocean of depression and misery.
