impressions on comics read

Cute and good fun overall; though there's a trend of portraying girls hating on their girl friends that is a little bit off putting. Also is that bashing for the scans_daily debacle I spy? Not classy PAD! XD
Weapon X : First Class
*scratches head* was there a point to that? It's kind of okay as some summary introduction to some characters but it doesn't feel like it fits with the rest of the series.
Agents of Atlas v1 & v2
I like the characters, I like the atmosphere, but I don't like the plot. The storytelling is often overly confusing and has way too much exposition and I just... can't manage to pay much attention to it. Really annoying. Does that improve or should I just give up on it right now?

Date: 31 May 2011 12:05 am (UTC)I never really got into the First Class stuff because I was always a bit confused on the necessity of those comics in the first place, since - at least the Wolverine ones - they didn't seem like they were going to be any good anyway, and I was never that nostalgic for the pre-Claremont X-stuff to begin with, which is all the "First Class" moniker seems meant for when Logan's not involved.

Date: 31 May 2011 12:34 am (UTC)First Class I've been genuinely liking. Not as my favourite thing ever, but they're cute, fun, witty stories, told in either one or two issues. It feels like it's definitely something that's not given by many other comics, especially not X-Men comics, and is enjoyable outside of the whole issue of nostalgia (which I'm wayyyyyy too new to comic books to feel myself XD). A shame they feel they need to fit that sort of stories in the past; I could totally use another New/Young X-Men on going with that sort of tone (especially since i love the kids from New X-Men and they don't have their own on going right now ^^; and they've been going through enough rough shit to enjoy a lighter break)

Date: 31 May 2011 02:09 am (UTC)Looking at the Academy X kids and the damage done to that roster is sometimes terrifying, yes. I think that's part of the reason doing a "lighter and softer" comic isn't really on the table right now, not for them; after you've put characters through the kind of wringer they've been through, pretending they're not all a tiny bit PTSD's more of a suspender-snap than whatever weirdness they're dealing with over in X-MEN: LEGACY right now, and superbooks don't really know how to fit "PTSD" and "fun" in the same concept. It could be done, but it requires a level of awareness and/or subtlety few writers currently in the employ of the Big Two actually have, I think.

Date: 31 May 2011 09:30 am (UTC)Tiens c'est PAD ?

Hmm.
