Finally finished watching Misfits (the British TV series about a bunch of community service convicted to young people suddenly getting superpowers). I'd watched like, half of the first season, a year ago; and I went through the rest of it and all of S2 a few weeks ago. Overall a very good series, with some pretty good storytelling and directing though it occasionnally comes close to aggravating either by having the protagonists be a little bit too much to the antipathetic side; or with weirdness in the long term storytelling (the last episode, especially was filled with weird things in regard of other stuff it had set up in previous continuity). But lots of fun overall.

Also watched Hwang Jin Yi in a few weeks, a Korean Drama about a 16th Century Gisaeng (Courtesan and Artist) which was pretty much awesome. There were a little bit too much drama; but I think that goes with the territory, and I found the first part of the story a bit slow and repeatitive, but asides from that the story is superb, the acting very good, and the play of thematics (art vs love, suffering and how to sublime it through art) wonderful. Loved the amount of relationships between women playing in a variety of very intriguing ways, from friendship, and mentorship to rivalry. I need to watch more kdrama (actually this is the first one I finish watching, I haven't even finished watching Capital Scandal in years despite loving it, I think I'm afraid it might have a downer ending XD).

Hwang Jin Yi is, IMO, the best kdrama (possibly best television) that I've seen. Between this and Damo (also excellent, though definite downer, and rather crucial if you're going to be watching the Korean historical series, as it was the first fusion sageuk) Ha Ji Won is pretty much my favorite Korean actress.

The only kdrama I've seen that's as woman-centric and focuses so much on the relationships between women is Dae Jang Geum, which is a little over twice as long. It has the same problems (draggy beginning, can be repetitive, a bit much Drama at times) but is essentially a shounen series about palace kitchen ladies with tons of politics and schemes and shounen cooking battles. The romantic drama is a bit more background there, and Jang Geum's love interest is probably one of the best fictional boyfriends ever. It's also largely responsible for making it more popular for the sageuks to focus on classes besides the aristocracy, as well as making women's roles in sageuks more popular and having more center around the women. (There were, I understand, several that came out right at the same time that focused on historical women and they were wildly popular with women and didn't scare off the traditional middle aged male sageuk viewers as much as feared, so the studios went "hmmmm...." but Dae Jang Geum was the really big one.)

Damo's the next one I'll watch, and I guess I'll put Dae Jang Geum right after that ^^

Dae Jang Geum isn't in your top 10/13 of best drama, is it cuz you've watched it after doing it?

Yup! I did that...2 years ago? 3? I mostly watched Dae Jang Geum last year, though I think I started it in 2009, then didn't watch any for a while because I didn't have the DVDs yet.

I love Misfits, but I agree that season 2 was sometimes a bit strange. At any case, I am GLAD Alisha got rid of her awful power. Ugh. Have you seen Vegas, baby! yet?

There is that. Feels like that might have been the point of some of the weirdness in a way.

What is Vegas, baby?

Yup, I agree. We'll see what the writers make of it.

That's the short that explains why Nathan isn't coming back next season. It was released yesterday on the Misfits website. Some contradictions in it, but still funny.

Nathan est ridiculeusement fun... de loin. De très, très loin.
