I think the Sherlock fandom has managed to mostly spoil most of my enjoyment of the series. Yay.
Also it would be really nice if it stopped spoiling me for the Sherlock Holmes movies grrr (then again given how spoiling happy thye are about Sherlock itself it was probably too much to ask).

Is that Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon's plot in my The Good Wife episode? O_o I have cognitive dissonance.

Meganphntmgrl: This just ended up leading to an entire GoT AU Sueniverse before I even started reading the books, though for logic’s sake I think we (Ska and I) decided Loki would have been like an acknowledged Lannister bastard or something (because if his dad is any variation on movie!Odin he would have been rescued or something still). And then we realized the Sueniverse cast is mostly Lannisters oh joy.

Me: Thor is so Baratheon tho :p

Meganphntmgrl: yeah but are you really gonna object to Adrian Veidt » Adarian Lannister

Me: … I could see him as Targaryen, alternatively.

Wouldn't be surprised if you'd already sorted the Watchmen cast in ASOIAF houses though? XD

Good God, I've been ready to stab someone from all the Sherlock spoilers. THAT SHIT HASN'T EVEN BEEN OUT FOR 24 HOURS YET, PEOPLE.

So irritated. Some of these people are Game of Thrones fans, too, but haven't read the books. SO TEMPTED.

From what I can tell, Sherlock fandom appears to be the worst. Of course, I also seem to notice that when british fans get something aired first they seem to want to revenge spoiler (for all the times the US did) or something. I have been spoiled so many times for Doctor Who it is not even funny.

Indeed. I was not intending to be English speaking countries-centric.

Also some of us that are also have other things to do. I got so incredibly mad during the last round of Olympics with people just assuming that everyone was watching the whole thing live and putting giant spoilers outside of cuts and ruining my DVRed recordings I was saving till I had time the next day or the day after. I don't understand what has happened to fandom culture... spoilers used to be so incredibly taboo and now it seems like people just don't care.

That is also one of the reasons I am not on tumblr (well that and the fact that I find it pretty much impossible to follow)

I don't think anyone really knows.

Yeah. I find it sort of stressful somehow. Although I did rename the one I made a long time ago to match my LJ/DW and am thinking about looking about it.

:D

I don't think I/we have sorted the Watchmen cast officially, but I do remember discussing with [personal profile] ladynyks whether Ozymandias would be more Lannister (shiny! tricksy! blond! ruthless!) or Targaryen (hubris of saving humanity from itself; fake space squid plot = not exactly sign of sanity). I think I'm leaning towards Targ more myself, but with a very Lannistery veneer.

(I must say I'm stumped on the others... Dr Manhattan is probably a Targ, sort of Bloodraveny in having transcended his humanity, and Dan feels sort of Tully-ish, but that's about all I've got...)

Going either just by the Thor movie or by the actual Norse myths (since I'm not familiar with the comics), Thor is so totally a Baratheon. He's even got a hammer. *cue [personal profile] ender839's Captain Hammer/Baratheon icon*

I AM SO GLAD WE SEEM TO BE IN AGREEMENT XD

I think Rorschach could work as a Stannis-esque Baratheon, maybe?

Laurie as Martell maybe? She's got a certain fire and she can keep a grudge.

Greyjoy for the Comedian?

I always forget Greyjoy's even an option, but you're totally right! Greyjoy is absolutely perfect for the Comedian!!

I was vaguely thinking Martell for Laurie, too, but wasn't sure how to justify it. If you're feeling it too, motion carried.

Rorschach was making me think of Sandor, but that's not quite right. I can definitely see the Stannis in him, sort of the disproportionate response thing, but R feels more chaotic than lawful... He is tough.
