It is a good thing I only wanted to watch it for Catwoman, because she was awesome, but everything else was very mediocre.

Okay, I actually also like the twist with Talia and Bane, and their backstory (except, you know, the white washing and the exoticism), although I didn't actually like how little Talia did (and very little about Bane). I was mostly struck by how muddled, confused, half-assed and downright nastily most of the themes and especially the political themes were handled. But yeah, Catwoman kicked ass, and we even had a Holly Robinson who didn't have that name even if she was dropped like everything else latter in the movie. Also I could have appreciated the No Man's Land elements more if, well, it didn't remind me of how awesome characters like Babs, Helena, Cass and Renée were in No Man's Land *ahem*, and likewise, I spent a lot of time wanting to slap Robin (*groans*) Blake more because he was yet another whitestraightmale in this movie than due to anything about his characterization.

I liked Bane's poise in the film, I could watch him wander around the screen holding his lapels all day, but Bruce was just dull. It felt like the film kinda ran on plot devices and contrived coincidences rather than the actions of the characters to a large extent.

Though given the already worrisome political implications in the film I'm not sure if canonical Hispanic drug-addicted Bane would have been the best choice either. On the one hand we have the whitewashing and having the prison be in...wherever the prison was (ambiguous middle east?), but on the other hand we have evil Hispanic lower class terrorist vs. noble white rich people and their friends the white cops.

Ngl, I absolutely *HATED* the way Talia and Bane were written into the story, but I mostly hated how he wrote Talia far more than Bane. At least he got Bane's characterisation right even if Nolan completely missed the point of the character with the origin that he gave him. BUT TALIA!!! WHAT THE BLOODY FUCK!!?? D:

This movie pissed me off so. damn. much I literally couldn't like it beyond a surprisingly accurate characterisation of Selina (even if she did a thing or two that was out of character for her), and the ending that screamed *SPOILERS* total Huntress origin, which made me squee like a little girl.

On John Blake...why does Nolan hate Dick Grayson so much? He would've worked perfect in this movie even without becoming Robin.

UGH! Sorry for the rant, but this movie makes me rage so much. As a regular action movie, I could've forgiven a lot, but this just wasn't Batman. >:(

I came out of that movie incredibly unimpressed. Even in the middle of it all, I was just sitting there shaking my head because it was such a muddle of plot-lines and vague themes that never came together. What was the entire point of Bane's spiel about Gotham's rich being too extravagant and oppressing the poor? And then turning it into some sort of 99% commentary that was really just muddled anarchism? What was the entire point of thatttttt?

All in all, this was a pretty weak movie. I've read in some reviews, though, that Christopher Nolan apparently didn't want to make a third movie, because he felt that ending the series on the Joker was much more appropriate, but Warner begged really hard so he went with it.

Btw, I don't know if you know of this critic called Film Critic Hulk, but he blogs and pretends to be the Hulk and types everything in capslock. If you can get past the capslock, then he's really intelligent and has great analyses. Here (http://badassdigest.com/2012/07/26/film-crit-hulk-smash-hulk-vs.-the-dark-knight-rises/) is his review for Dark Knight Rises.

Huh. This is the first really negative review I have heard of it. I guess it can't quite measure up to the comics.
