it's been month now that I've been bemoaning the loss of the mo dao zu shi ao3 feed on tumblr. It kind of went away out of the blue and since that's what I used to keep track of the fics in the fandom, it altered how I was reading fics a lot. I could have tried to remake one (you need an email address but it's not too complicated. I created the one for scum villain actually) but I didn't feel up to it because I also felt a bit less enthusiastic about the fandom at the time. But still I had to get myself a RSS feed tracker just to make up for the lack but I had to make choices about which tag I had the time to follow. Mostly I follow fics tagged Jiang Cheng and also Nieyao. I had to give up on tracking Yi City Crew fics and Xiyao and any number of rare pairing and gen because of it.

Today I found out there's an Untamed ao3 feed on tumblr.

I guess I could follow that? But this is disheartening because i haven't even watched the Untamed. I'd prefer to find fics tagged for the novel canon in priority and that's the ones that got dropped.

So yeah. Mixed feelings here :/

Ooof. CQL is different enough that I tend to avoid reading fics based on that canon and really dislike it when I come across CQL only stuff with no warning on fics tagged for MDZS (people seem to treat it as an umbrella term, ugh).

I though about subscribing to the sangcheng rss feed but afaik there's no way to filter for otp: true on the feed, which makes it useless for me since SO MANY fics tag minor background ships but are actually just wangxian...

I wish there was a way to do that.

Oh yeah I hate how people use it as an umbrella. Nowadays I'm desperate enough for content that I'll read anything, but at the beginning I found it very frustrating that you couldn't avoid the CQL canon based on what people tagged.

Thankfully sangcheng doesn't show too much as a minor side pairing. From times to times sure, but I think that reserved for xicheng more, so usually you can count on it being the main dish.

You think so? Because I got so frustrated when looking for sangcheng fics, and 2 out of 3 times it was actually wangxian with background sangcheng. It was a god send to learn about otp: true for me!

I still get super super frustrated whenever I'm reading a fic and with no warning encounter something that is squarely CQL. I'm picky like that...

I try to read every sangcheng fics and I can't remember finding many wangxian fics like that so I'm surprised. At most there were occasionally fics with both ships explored but it's more likely for wangxian to be the background ship compared to sangcheng.
