5 Jul 2022 09:33 pmIt might be impossible for me to play Three Hopes, but watching my friend play the demo did rekindle my interest in playing Three Houses, aka I started making progress on my Crimson Flower playthrough again. It's still early days (just reached the Remire chapter) so I don't know how long that'll last though.
I've completed my recruit sprew (Constance, Yuri, Sylvain, Felix, Ashe but he'll be benched because I have too many people, Mercedes also benched just there for the support with Jeritza, Lorenz, benched just there for the Thyrsus, Leonie and Lysithea)
Unlike my BL playthrough, I don't have a fun set of builds to amuse me unfortunately. I should have done something like aiming for a maximum for mixed builds (dark knights & so on) or something XD

Date: 6 July 2022 01:48 am (UTC)and if you need a few ideas for amusing builds for the next time you play through (if you're planning on it), I've done a bunch of pretty fun ones! I still fondly remember Mad Libs Crimson Flower, where I forced every character to train in as many of their disliked proficiencies as possible. War Master Linhardt will always remain as proof that that class is so fuckin busted that ANYONE can be good in it. I also did a Blue Lions run where I forced all the dudes to learn magic and all the girls (plus Dedue because of the lions' uneven gender ratio and I'd already done magic classes with him in the past) to learn brawling; throw in a steady diet of a secondary weapon and you may still end up finding everyone a distinct class to finish on!

I'm not sure I'd enjoy going to wildly off beat about builds. Training Banes, for exemple, feels like a chore. But I'll remember to ask you if I need ideas to spice up my eventual Golden Deer replay (because I played the first on my friends' switch but at some point (maybe?) I'll need to complete to support log). I already have a plan for Silver Snow -- that's going to be my Commoners' run where I only train commoner characters and get the nobles killed (ooops).

wow XDDD

Date: 7 July 2022 09:47 pm (UTC)and ah, yeah, White Clouds... sure is. in theory, going through with a better understanding of what's going on in the larger story should be a richer experience, and yet in practice, the shit that's vague and doesn't make sense doesn't become any clearer no matter how many times you play the game, so it really is a chore for the most part. all I can recommend is judiciously skipping all sorts of events that you believe you've already seen previously,
hah, I do like that idea of a commoner-only run; and I guess Silver Snow is the right route to do it in, since it's the only one where you CAN go without the noble protagonist. and training banes wasn't that much of a chore, I didn't think! I might just have a higher threshold for what feels like a chore, but it doesn't feel slower when all of the other forms of progression are going just as slowly, eh- you just have to accept that you might not be able to 100% every class and make the builds all perfectlike, though. as much ass as War Master Linhardt kicked, I only got him as far as Quick Riposte in the very final map (so just imagine how much more ass he'd have kicked if I'd had time to make good on that--)

Yeah it's really not that well conceived for replay. Which is unfortunate given the structure of the game. White Clouds should have been either way shorter or had better replay value.
I really need to get better at skipping some things. It goes against my completionist instincts so it's hard but on NG+ you've got enough xp to spare.

That's the idea :D
