Happy birthday tintinalle !

Finally got to see PotC:DMC, whee ! So, overall I did like it even though it wasn't as good as the first movie.

The movie's biggest drawbacks were problems of pacing. I especially thought some action scenes were just too drawn and too cartoonish and, well, boring (not too mention the racism).
However I did love what they did with the characters.
It helped that the movie pushed one of my very hottest button when Elizabeth shackled Jack with a kiss. That was a scene where I could have literally squee-ed (and not in a shipping way either, but it was a wonderful dynamic). Actually, had the movie ended 5 minutes before it did, without the teaser to the 3rd movie, I would have been happy where it landed all characters, but that's little blood-and-heart-break-thirsty me ^_^
Otherwise Norrington was hot (yeah, he barely registered my radar before) and I was rooting for him to run with the heart XD (totally caught up on it when he took it)
Tia Dalma was hot, hot, hot (You know how much I love witches?) Can't wait to see what she'll be up to in the third.
Adored Pintel and Ragetti's commentary, they made some of the funniest bit of the movie.
Bootstrap could have been more interesting if, well, he hadn't been so stupid, and if he had stopped two minutes yelling "NOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo"es every two seconds.
Davey Jones was too CGI-ed for my taste and only so-so as a villain IMO. Beckett however is just groovy. Awesome villain can't wait to see more of him.
One thing I hope for the third movie is less Kraken. A good Karen sashimi would do.
Okay, there's lot of plots or as-yet-unprecides character acs left hanging as well, which they'll need to tie properly. I don't approve of leaving a movie that unfinished in general.

Now I want to read fanfics ? Does anyone knows where I could find good Pirates fanfics ? The only ones I've read so far were linked from the JackxWillxElizabeth [livejournal.com profile] ship_manifesto a good while ago.

Weirdly enough I also want to re-read all of Corto Maltese, find Tim Powers' On Stranger Tides in English and read Neal Stephenson's The Confusion to see if there's more Jack Shaftoe in it (unlikely as that is)...

Yes those scenes were a bit (a lot actually) cartoonish. That's why I liked them. I would also have liked if the movie had stopped five minutes earlier. It was a nice picture (un joli tableau), somewhat reminiscent of a certain Bruce Lee movie (can't remember the title).

As for the racism (i believe you're alluding to the cannibal island scenes), yup I saw it too but it didn't really bother me. Yes they were a caricature.

I did like Norrington while I had found him boring in the first movie. And Elizabeth... You lied to Will !!!
