1. The first character I first fell in love with
I think it was Tyrion, like a lot of people. I remember how much I enjoyed his PoV while reading the first half of the first tome. Arya's always been a big favourite as well.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Well, Jaime (duh) ^^ He didn't much tilt my radar until aSoS.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
Jon Snow. He feels very vanilla to me, I can find myself caring a whole lot for him. He's a nice kid, just, not my favourite by far.
Oh, and Asha. I really don't like her much, but most people seem to think her uber-cool.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates
Theon i guess. I sorta sympathize with him while still considering him a jerk of the worst sort.
I also love Sansa whom lots of people hate, and Davos and Bran whom a lot of people don't care for much, I think.

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer
I don't love Tyrion as much as I used to. He's still a very cool and compelling PoV, but he disapointed me, from a moral PoV. Hard to explain, but I can't sheer for him murdering his dad and whore. Deserved as it might have been, I don't think it was good for Tyrion. I think he lost a battle with himself. I also think he's on the way to become the next Littlefinguer.

6. The character I used to dislike but don't any longer
Samwell. Didn't care for his Pov in SoS and didn't care much for him before either, but I loved his PoV in FFC.

7. The character I would shag anytime
Oberyn Martel!

8. The character I'd want to be like
Davos, for moral reasons. He's the character who manages to be the most righteous and humble throughout, I think.
I'd love to have more of the Lannister wit, too ^^

9. The character I'd slap
Theon, he needs it.

10. A pairing that I love
Sandor/Sansa, Jaime/Brienne, Arya/Gendry, Jaime/Loras, Littlefinguer/UnCat

11. A pairing that I despise
I don't know... I'm not very fond of Jon/Dany. Cersei's antics where annoying to read, especially the sex parts, so there is those.

have you finished watching Utena by the way? I'm curious to see your final reaction ^^

I like your reasoning about Tyrion's character development. He's beginning to scare me too, especially some stuff I read about in a Tyrion ADWD spoiler on GRRM's site. Not to go into details, because I don't want to inadvertently spoil you, but he's becoming more and more like an apathetic version of his father. He no longer even cares to think about the consequences of his actions for other, powerless people. It's almost like he hasn't got anything left to believe in.

Of course, everyone wants to shag Oberyn. ;-) And I always thought Dany and Jon would be eminently unsuitable as a couple. I just can't see Jon falling in love with a girl like Dany, or Dany condoning either his indecisiveness from before or his cold authoritarianism from after the LC election. Jaime/Brienne would make a lovely doomed platonic romance, though.

As for Utena - I'm up to the episode with Wakaba being the Black Rose duelist, episode 20, I think. The tone is getting different. I find myself wanting to watch Anthy from the corner of my eyes all the time. She is *not* nice.

I've read at least some of these chapters... so, yeah, I could see him being seriously ruthless and bitter, which was not in his initial nature. A sad story.

Oberyn is very very shaggable. I'd shag other characters, of course, but Oberyn's first! XD
I don't see the Jon and Dany's dynamics. I've no idea how they'd interract, how they'd communicate.

Jaime/Brienne... I got into a discussion last week end, because I was nominating it as a reversed Beauty & Beast couple (where the woman's the ugly one), and the people were like O_O "where do you see this as a couple?". So now I'm doubting my ability to see subtext and hints. Reassure me that i'm not inventing stuff?

The tone gets pretty dark and more surrealist at times. I find Anthy fascinating, it's worth keeping track of everything she does. Re-watching old eps like this, you see stuff too.

Well, if you read those chapters, then you're already spoiled about Tyrion going to Dany, and I have no more compunctions. :-) I was always hoping that a dragon would give him a new purpose in life, that and being valued by Dany for himself and the knowledge he brings. But I think I'd be scared to trust him with a dragon now.

Jon and Dany's dynamics might be similar to Jon and Stannis, I think. Plenty of room for misunderstandings, a complete unwillingness and inability to relate to the other person and not much romantic potential. :-p

And reassure you about Jaime and Brienne? I'm incredibly surprised that people didn't notice it! I don't just mean the "beautiful blue eyes" and the "half a god and half a corpse" (one of the AFFC moments that almost made me melt) things. Jaime's starting to think of Brienne in similar terms as of Arthur Dayne, and we don't need any more proof about how much he admired the man. His admiration of Brienne is grudging at first, but I think he transcends that some time in the Mummers' captivity. He aids her, and thinks of her when he starts developing scruples and a morality. He knows she can be trusted.

Brienne obviously believes his story about King's Landing, because her initial disgust becomes respect and admiration, too. Not to mention that she dreams of him. :-p

There's definitely something brewing between those two. But in light of Brienne's lack of social graces and Jaime's newfound principles, I doubt that anything physical will ever come of it. Neither of them is on my "will possibly live happily ever after" list anyway. But I'll be happy enough with them being reunited and maybe acknowledging their feelings for each other.

Well, Dany does have some betrayals coming. I always pegged Tyrion as doomed to be one of them.

Thank you ^^ To be honest, they did admit respect and affection, just not of a romantic kind. I do think there's a romantic/sexual aspect to their friendship - even if it's never consumed physically in the story (which I have difficulty imagining right now as well).

Beyond "most of them", I suppose Remus. I warmed up to him by reading essays/discussions shortly after I read OotP, way before I got into fandom.

Bill Weasley annoys me and seems well liked in fandom. I'm not crazy about Hermione either.

Percy has some haters but other defenders. There's also Gilderoy, Moody, Barty Jr...

I can't think of any. I didn't like Tonks in HBP but I still love the character a great deal in fics.

I didn't care the least about Draco before HBP. Now I'm really fond of it, he's an amusing snotty brat.

Fakir was, if not love at first sight, then the first character I was deeply intrigued by and interested in.

Mythos, I think. I don't usually like Prince Charming types. Then again, Mythos is such a more complex figures.

Neko-Sensei. The wedding proposal was funny the first three times. Then it just got tiresome. Also the whole part where he's trying to get married to his 12 yrs old students is CREEPY.

Is there anybody everyone hates? I like whatshisname, the guy with the glasses? Well, in case anybody does dislike him...

Aruhi does grow on you awfully. Not that I disliked her first or anything...

1. The first character I first fell in love with
Tsuwabuki. I had trouble finding a character to like at first, I found them interesting but not likeable. When Tsuwabuki arrived on screen like the little stalker he is, however, it was insta creepy-cute love!

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
Anthy's definitly my favourite! I think she's the real main character, and so fascinating. But it needs us to know her full story.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't
I'm not overly fond of either Akio or Utena. They're both extremes of course, and because of that I find them a bit flatter than the others.
Akio's expecially is such a slut I can't take him seriously. Utena is too much the hero, I have a hard time with those ^^

4. The character I love that everyone else hates
Shiori I really like and she's often hated. I also like Saionji a great deal which some people hate. Likewise with Kozue.

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer
I'm not much into Tsuwabuki anymore ^^

6. The character I used to dislike but don't any longer
None I can think of.

7. The character I would shag anytime
Kozue. Akio like everyone just to see if he's worth the fuss.

Good rolemodels they are not... hmmm okay : Nanami and Saionji because they're the characters who grow the most through the course of the story. They actually learn from their failures/problems and move on. Sometimes Id like to have a bit more of that.

9. The character I'd slap
Anthy because everyone does it
Chuuchuu, hate the little beast.

10. A pairing that I love
Saionji/Touga, because they deserve each others ^^
I also like Akio/Anthy.

11. A pairing that I despise
Touga/Utena and Wakaba/Saionji, you know, ill adviced pairings.

1. The first character I first fell in love with-- cute lil' blue haired Miki.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now-- Utena herself. When I first started watching/reading I found her too special, too innocent, and too pure of heart. However by the end of the series I felt she gained a great deal of depth and really grew up. Also Nanami who I disliked early on for being nasty and shallow but who became progressively more Intriguing especially in regards to her relationship with her brother.

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't-- I not sure if anyone loves Chuuchuu but I don't. I found him very distracting.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates--I love the incestuous little sisters-- Nanami and Kozue.

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer-- It's only been a few months since I got into Utena so I haven't had a chance to really move away from anyone yet.

6. The character I used to dislike but don't any longer-- I didn't care for Wakaba at first then I realized that realistically Wakaba is the character most like me. Now I like her a whole lot better.

7. The character I would shag anytime--
Kozue. Juri. Saionji-- he's a bit of a jerk but I imagine he'd be very, very good.

8. The character I'd want to be like-- Anthy. She's a bit of a Christ figure and because Christianity was drummed into me from a very early age I still see that kind of sacrifice, submission and endurance of suffering as something to aspire to.

9. The character I'd slap-- I wouldn't mind slapping Touga, the condescending bastard.

10. A pairing that I love-- Again, many many pairing I like. Saionji/Touga, Akio/Anthy, Juri/Shiori, Utena/Anthy, Miki/Kozue, Anthy/Kozue, Utena/Wakaba, Ruka/Shiori, Juri/Shiori/Ruka, Akio/Touga, Touga/Nanami, Mikage/? (I really like Mikage but I haven't figured out a pairing for him yet).

11. A pairing that I despise-- The idea of Touga/Utena and Akio/Utena both make my skin crawl because of the level of manipulation involved (Anthy/Akio also makes my skin crawl of course but somehow that's different).

I know that song, I was obsessed with Boys for Pele for months after it first came out. It's perfect for Anthy and/or Karen. I also associate "Crucify" with Anthy because I saw an icon of her run through with all the swords that said "Everyday, crucify myself"... I am very taken with Subaru. I find I can identify with him quite a bit because there's an element of self-pity, of wallowing in grief to his suffering. Like me he can't get over things and move on.

I feel like I'm similar to Wakaba in that my desire to care for and adore others is both my best and worst trait.

I'm dying to write some sort of a Juri/Shiori, Ruka/Shiori, Juri/Shiori/Ruka story but I haven't figured out a premise yet.

11. A pairing that I despise-- I like both Kusanagi and Yuzuiha and I like them as friends but as a romantic couple (Kusanagi/Yuzuriha) the age difference sort of creeps me out.

And Faith sure is a good looking one. I don't think I really ever grew to like Dawn.
