Back from the dentist. Teeth fucking hurts. Hurts. Hurts. But not as much as reading about the imbrioglio from Wiscon. (Read about it here, here, and here). The last part thankfully, brings in the good, thinky and fuckyoustillnotashamedsucker part. Yay.
However so not the day for a friend (?) to make pithy comments about my teeth or bad breath which are going to repell men, you know? Not funny in the first place, definitly not funny when I hurt, still not funny when I tell you I don't think it's funny and you keep doing it. Thanks for reminding me how much being a woman, my whole life is supposed to revolve around how attractive I am (or not).
Teeth still fucking hurts.

Then again, people with the tact of a drunk hedgehog on cold turkey are probably competing the badness position.
In your situation, I would point out to said person how women certainly got laid during Shakespeare's time, which saw a certain lack of personal hygenie, whereas women being a pain in the arse got burned at a stake.
In my situation, I offer more hugs, a wee dram of whisky, and a lighter in case you need to burn anyone.

Date: 29 May 2008 06:38 pm (UTC)I love reading Something Positive myself after all, sometimes it's done in order that at least they are not as bad as THOSER dorks. Now, them, they're the real deal! Mocking people who are even lower than you in thegeeksocial hierarchy has been a method to try to make yourself better since time immemorial.I realize that there is so much fat hate, it's just accepted as rational discourse.
It's just one of the accepted target try to make a serious argument against it, and unless the people you talk to are somewhat sensitivized to the issue they're going to fall back on "but there's a real problem of obesity" arguments, if they even take you seriously enough for that.
And I don't accept the "but I'm fat myself" argument. I don't see much sympathy for Uncle Toms on the race equation, so why should the high-BMI ones get a pass?
Wordy McWordiness!

'fin la prochaine fois, ça sera plus facile de ne pas prendre de nouvelles, je me fatiguerai pas donc. Ca sera plus "amical (?)" probablement.

( * bemoans lack of smileys on LJ as I'd put the one with a raised eyebrow going "HUH?" here * )

(Il est vrai aussi que les standards physiques sont plus contraignants pour une femme que pour un homme. Pour la justice, nous aussi exigeons des bishos partout au lieu de nous contenter de mecs réels ;-))
