I don't think you can really compare writing fanfic and stealing music (or other media) from the internet. Imo, it's apples and oranges, regarding the legal questions and the intent.

Well, I was doing so only in a limited sense, which was to illustrate the point that we do not necessarily personally disapprove of stuff just because we don't allow it on the board.
